tongue-tied
2100 LP's !! if you aren't listening to them anymore...
W(TF)
!! if you aren't listening to them anymore... That's about half as many as I had 5-6 yrs ago. (seen High Fidelity? that was my apartment, basically) I listen to my vinyl all the time, just in the middle of moving so my stereo and records aren't accessible at the mo. (it's not like I'm lacking in choices either...2100 LP's.. 3400 songs on iPod..etc) I'm the same way. I've ripped it onto my pc at work and listen to it over and over and over. Nothing else (except more Wilco) is worthy.

I think you meant On and On and On? Mebbe Jeff programmed the last song with some subversive manipulations of our neurons. Tell brain to press 'Repeat'. On and On. You will all be assimilated. HighFives
I'm the same way w/ vinyl. It's all I listen to. the only stuff on my ipod is stuff that's not available on lp format. I don't have too much tho maybe 300 rekkids. only been collecting a year tho.
W(TF)
There have been several incredibly unbelievable good records this decade... 10 New Songs (Leonard Cohen), Modern Times (Bob Dylan), definitely YHF... probably AGIB. All will go down as classics. But I think Sky Blue Sky tops them all, so far. Mesmerizing.

mchchef1
ICKY THUMP has helped lately
W(TF)
Got it but I need to give it a more attentive listen. (see above ^ ^ Never been a huge Jack & Meg fan but I guess the 27-page thread on Icky Thump means it must be a significant record....
Venus
Yay for vinyl! Speaking of Icky Thump (and vinyl)--I hear they're charging almost 30 for the double LP! I'm not really excited about this album (only a few songs)...I prefer their previous records.

I'm not really excited about this album (only a few songs)...I prefer their previous records. That's pretty typical... Sundazed prices are usually a bit lower (Scorpio as well but quality is crap), but most of what Classic Records, Speakers Corner, etc are pressing goes in the $30-40 range. Most everything involved with GOOD analog is pricey, and has been for many years now. Digital audio has come a long way lately, and it's pretty hard to "justify" vinyl now - unless you collect semi-rare music, are a hardcore audiophile... or a DJ. M2C anyway...ymmv. In defense of the suppliers --- there is really not much money to be made on vinyl in 2007. And that's a fact, not my opinion. Luckily some folks still care enough to produce it. W(TF)
i like them big album covers Yeah me too....except when it comes time to move. 30 boxes worth, trying to keep them in the same order....lot of sweat. Friends will help you move them ONCE... and never again. OTOH, my 10-year-old's friends all think I'm "cool"; so hey it's all worth it. lol
Good Old Neon
I have a similar problem with Neutral Milk Hotel
W(TF)
Here's a shot at being objective about this.... my one tiny criticism of Sky Blue Sky: I could live without the violins on Either Way. (still love the song anyway... and I'm not anti-fiddle, I love it on Jesus etc for example) That's it. (listening to it again here now..)
