benjamin
Former big leaguer Offerman arrested for melee BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Former major league All-Star Jose Offerman was arrested Tuesday night after charging the mound and hitting the pitcher and catcher with his bat during an independent minor league game. Bridgeport police said Offerman was arrested, but did not detail the charge. Police said he posted bond. Offerman hit Beech in the hands and struck catcher John Nathans in the head. The game was delayed for about 20 minutes because of the melee. Offerman, Beech and Bridgeport manager and former major league pitcher Tommy John were all ejected. There was no immediate update on the condition of Beech or Nathans. 2nd degree Assaulthttp://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-o...p&type=lgns

Chendizzle
Pedroia, Youk, Ortiz and Manny all with a chance to hit a lousy single and no one can come up. I'm peeved, but I guess I should be moreso at Dice-K who is as hit or miss as Wake.

Lammycat
I was at a kid party on Sunday and some strong winds blew through. I bent down to scoop up a plastic party cup screaming my way in what I thought to be excellent form. The cup went right between the wickets about an inch or so below my hands. I was wearing a Sox hat. I was, for that brief moment, Bill Buckner.
bjorn_skurj
He may have not been among the very best players of his time, but he was as good as any of the broadcasters who've made it, so it's OK with me.

Right on. You've got to look at Scooter's induction as a sort of lifetime achievement award that encompassed both careers - player and broadcaster. And even if you find that objectionable, he still has some credentials as a player. An MVP award. 7 rings. Plus, although it does not show up in the numbers, I think the extent to which his peers respected his play should count for something. I mean, if Ted Williams thought he belonged in the Hall, then I'm not going to object based on statistics. After all, everything that happens on the field that affects the outcome of the game does not show up in the box score. I think if we unfroze Ted and asked him about Phil, he would say that very thing. The Scooter belongs. Now that I'm off my soap box, I'd like to ask for opinions about a player I believe should be in the Hall (sorry, another Yankee): "Goose" Gossage. I know many of his peers agree with me. Is this why he hasn't been inducted? NSFW - Gossage Tirade
bobbob1313
Boy, what a crappy game to go to today. Justin Upton made a crappy play on a ball and he ended up dropping it and letting the runner get on, and he screamed "FUCK" about 5 times at the top of his lungs. My friends and I were heckling him up to that point, and then after that, we pretty much stopped. He's a big guy, and he had a look of death in his eyes...
Sir Stewart
Clay Buchholz will be pitching the first game of tomorrow's doubleheader against the Angels. He will be flown into Boston today, from Ottawa, where the PawSox are playing, and is expected to be at Fenway Park this afternoon at 3 p.m. He will be sent back down to Pawtucket after the game. PigSooie
What are they going to do with Wily Mo?
DAngerer09
I bat boyed for Wily Mo when he was in the minors. Guy knocks the ball out the park further than anyone during BP, but he can't hit the breaking ball very well at all. And he used to be a great centerfielder when he was younger, and now he can hardly play right to save his life.

bobbob1313
I am really hoping the Marlins offer the Sox a PTBNL and scoop up Wily Mo. I don't care if he can't play center very well, put him out there anyways. If he hits 40 homers, I'll be ok with the no defense thing.

Wily Mo Pena is the second coming of Pedro Cerrano. He needs to get some things straight with Jobu before he's gonna be hitting a bunch of home runs. For the life of me, I can't figure out why pitchers even throw him fastballs anymore.
