Reni
I have been reading Peace in Every Step I have taken to the practice of centering myself and breathing every time I hear bells. Being at Loyola (downtown) - near the Archdiocese of Chicago - I hear a lot of bells throughout my day. He mentions being present to the act of walking, picturing flowers blooming at your feet, where you step. I have to admit, that I love this. When I am walking at a steady, easy pace through the train station in the mornings, amongst frantic, hurried commuters, I just float through it all. I love it. I would like to read his book Anger In a book I am reading for class -which is a collection of essays, I just read one last night that talks about the trait of resilience in suffering and how it is seen in Buddhism, Christianity and Judaism......that book is called Spiritual Resources in Family Therapy and I honestly think it's an enlightening, good read for anyone. It addresses a good number of world religions and how they can be tools for healing and wholeness. Darn, maybe I should be embarrassed too that I have changed direction in my life, to work on a degree and in the field of healing and therapy, with a strong spiritual foundation. trust me, i gave the doctor the upmost credit and respect pre and post operation...you didn't read my post. i believe that god works with and/or through people...which ever answer makes me look like less of the bigfoot enthusiast.why do you think in this case god didn't answer my prayers? my prayer was that the doctor be able to complete the operation successfully and, should god have a different calling for my grandfather, that he not suffer should something go wrong.you seem to act like there is a scientific answer to everything or maybe you just have faith that, even the anomolies, will eventually be answered by a definitive scientific finding. Spawn's dad
Careful with that float stuff. Otherwise some might think you think you're developing spiritual powers.

ikol
So if you're in a burning building holding a handful of balls, and Al Gore and 9 dishes of embryos are in the building, do you drop the balls and rescue Al or the embryos?

Mr. Kinsley
As usual, I'm very late to the party and this one is giving me a headache before I even get to the Kool Aid. No, I'm not going to read the whole thread, but I'll put in my .02 anyway. Look, you can all call each other and each other's religions all the names you want but it doesn't change a few FACTS that none of us can really work around. 1) Forget global warming for a minute. The real problem is overpopulation. The number of humans is supposed to DOUBLE in the next 50 or so years... which it won't because we can't possibly sustain that many people. Even if climate change were BS we still need to drastically change the way we operate to prepare for this eventuality.2) We changed over to mostly (not all) compact flourescent bulbs, unplugged unused electrical devices (which still pull power out of the grid) and became more aware of turning off lights when we aren't in a room. Nothing earth shattering, and we still saved over $200 on our last utility bill. Forget saving the planet - be a cheapskate!

EL the Famous
Do you know even the first thing about me? Anything - even the slightest? again, i could ask the same of you...you seem to be able to discount the intellectual capacity of anybody whose beliefs have both spirituality and science combined. much like Mr. Gore, who (correct me if i'm wrong) is a christian himself. i'm just interested in your stance...would the world be a better place if we completely abolished the pratice of spirituality/religion/faith? i guess i just feel there is good and bad in everything if you look hard enough. killings in the name of religion are horrible, but the charitable efforts in the same name are wonderful. science providing cures to dieases that one time wiped out droves w/ no opportunity to save those afflicted is a beautiful thing...same 'scientifc community' developing nuclear weaponry, not so good...but i wouldn't suggest we abolish the use of science. it's just not as black/white as you seem to want to make it. real life is much more complex than that and nobody...i mean nobody has it all figured out. bjorn_skurj
I hate those things.I just switched over to them. They had a sale at Wal-Mart, and I was like, "What would Al Gore do?" Killing=Erroneous use of religion.Charity=Correct use of religion. The evil is man's, not God's.
a.miller
I hate those things.I just got those too. At first I thought they weren't working right, or really sucked. Once they warmed up a bit, it was like staring at the sun while doing laundry.
