Because it's pretty much the same thing

Be careful of those varicose veins.

Well - I think the thread should be closed up. It's never ending deal really - like talking about abortion or whatever. I don't much care for religious people myself - for the simple fact that one of their missions is to force their beliefs on you. I had a woman a few months ago shove some religious tracts through my door so hard that she sort of messed up the weather stripping around the door. She is lucky that I looked and saw who it was - as I was about to do a billy jack on her.

You should go to her house and fuck up her weatherstripping. Eye for an eye and all that...

They announced on the SNL News that Al Gore had won the Nobel Prize, but that in a stunning reversal, the Supreme Court had awarded it to George W. Bush.

Please tell me that is some form of physical violence and not some weird sexual practice.

Yes - violence - I am really into violence.

I have always wondered what it would be like if wiccans went door to door like that.

This is like me saying: 'I don't really care for black people myself - for the simple reason that they are really rude. I had a black man yell at me few months ago while I was walking, telling me I had a nice ass for a white girl".

IT IS ABSURD TO JUDGE ANY GROUP OF PEOPLE BY THE ACTIONS OF ANY INDIVIDUAL IN THAT GROUP.

Not just absurd, but dangerous. In the aspect of spiritual belief and practice, the weapon of intolerance can be held with equal damage by the practioner or nonpractioner.

At Guitar Center yesterday, some hippie-type dude was standing in front of the wall with all the bags of picks trying to find the right color picks for him. He repeatedly told the guy behind the counter that the size and weight of the picks were relatively unimportant, as was the brand, but the color was of the utmost importance because color has a profound impact on the soul. Or something. And as I'm trying to talk to the GC guy about buying a tuner, hippie guy keeps interrupting saying that he can't find a color that feels right and that he's having a "spiritual crisis". I'm not sure what my point is here, other than that maybe jnickerson has a point after all.

I think Analogman (whom I love by the way.) had, in mind, the sort of religious folk whose eyes are set a little too close together, who, when they speak to you, don

It used to be that when members of the LDS were out campaigning for souls I would get an uneasy feeling and do whatever I could not to have to actually speak to them, it got to the point I could see them a mile away.

Now, I get that same uneasy feeling from atheists campaigning against those earlier missionaries.

See, this language is offensive to me.

Maybe you are attempting sarcasm here, I don't know, but it would in all seriousness it would fall in line with the many other sweeping generalizations and predudicial posts you have made, so I think not.

The way in which one uses language tells a great deal about the underlying attitudes of the speaker.

I've always liked that saying.

I actually told some Morman missionaries that I was "not interested in going to Heaven" the other day as I shut the door in their faces. In my defense, baseball was on and I think we were also getting dinner ready.

I also once almost got into a fight with a hare krishna recruiter type in the Tyson's Corner Tower Records parking lot, circa 1992.

I'm going to have to ask you to fly here, from wherever you are, and like, wipe the coffee of my monitor - and my chin.
