I was just wondering if the guys are religious or what? Jeff has some songs that would say he isn't (Theologians dont know nothing about my soul, and Ruling Class has Jesus smokin crack) and some that might say he is. (Satan your kingdom must come down, Airline to Heaven-even though its woody) Any thoughts?

Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down is also not a Jeff composition, but a traditional song. I would say he is, at the very least, skeptical of organized religion in its modern form. I am just basing this on lyrics, interviews, etc -- no official statement or anything.

You guys are really too hard on new posters. And you're all just SO above caring about Wilco members' personal lives, right? That's why you avoid ALL discussion of anything but their music.

Please. Take a look back at any of your older posts and you completely contradict yourselves. Lay off this guy ... it was an innocent question. You may like to think you're all the keepers of the Wilco gate, but they are public figures, and this is a public forum.

nah, I really don't care, it's none of my business. I'm into Wilco for the music, not for their clothes or their kids or however they choose to practice their religious beliefs.

I'd like you to go through any of my old posts, here and in the archives and show me where I contradict myself.

I've always thought the opposite of those two songs(even if one is about the guy in rehab). Theologians has imagery in it from so many different Faiths. And Ruling Class is the sort of theory that the messiah is coming, but not in some glorious manner like most people think...so be on the look out. I don't know. Just how I always heard those songs. I think at the very least Jeff is a spiritual person. But, Glenn Kotche HAS sold is soul to the devil; this is fact.

I know you're not referring to me. :brow

I've never expressed much of an interest in Jeff's personal life (or those of anyone else in the band) except maybe as it relates directly to his bands or his music (and not even then, really). I don't care about his religion, his politics, his favorite color, or anything else. I may have commented on his health back when that was a concern, but my interest there doesn't extend beyond the kind of well-wishing one would offer to anyone.

Oh. Wait. I know what his favorite pizza is. That makes me a Tweedy gossip whore. You're right, I'm a total hypocrite.

Affirmative. You can practically see the evil running through that guy. This photo was taken right before lightning bolts shot out of his drumsticks and small woodland creatures everywhere ran for cover.

If you look around at other message boards, threads that have to do with band members personal lives are generally ridiculed, met with hostility, or something else. I recently saw some threads on another board that had to do with someone finding out where a band member lived - and how they were going "try and meet him". I suppose there is apoint where fan really becomes fanatic.

So when Glenn's deal with the devil runs out, will he turn back into Ken Coomer?

My bad guys, I'm new here and didn't know these types of threads were frowned upon.

Not to worry.

And sorry, sometimes we are hard on new folks, but it's because some of us (like me) have nothing better to do. We're OK once you get to know us. Don't let it scare you off.
