Hookers again. Every thread that veers vastly off topic always ends up being about hookers. What's up with that?

:lol

I can lock this thread if it's lost its meaning. The original poster, Treehugger something, would likely never do that since he likes to argue around and around etc. A lot.

What say you all?

Edit: OK, hookers or porn

It takes two to tango - or, in some cases, six or twelve or more....

is it still about Sigur Ros selling out? I honestly haven't read it all but just offering up my services ... like I said .. if it's lost it's meaning etc.

No big deal, here Kev.

oh, i know...it just seemed funny that you'd even ask. granted, the discussion morphed from a discussion about the shining example of sigur ros in the world of capitalism to different things, but it's all still interrelated w/ the issue of commerce/entertainment and fun to argue about.

I don't think this thread was ever really about Sigur Ros...

ditto.

Nice job breaking the fourth wall.

Yeah, well, just wait until I break the fifth wall by ramming my fist into your stomach!

Have we reached the part of the performance where you remove your mask and reveal yourself to be

He's just creating work for the humble carpenter.

This would have been brilliant had you not posted the actual post, but a picture of your draft of the post.

glad to see people are still disscussing this.

to try to bring it somewhat closer to its orginal concept.

If we have established that artists can and will "sell out" (or play the capitalist game however you like to call it) does it tarnish the art or the indivdual if its used in a commerical.

As I've already stated I try not to look up to musicans (except for their musical abilty). That being said do you all fell that once you've herd a song in a commerical it looses some of its meaning. As stated before music can be reused in a dramatic setting to enhance the film, in effect a connection can be formed between the two peices of art that were once the same.

But when you hear a song like "You Are My Face" (or whatever song) being played over a Voltzwagen ad does it tarnish the song? Or just your image of Jeff Tweedy and the band?

Personnally I can't stand that Sky Blue Sky is now attacthed with cars, a device that is destroying our planet. Had I herd the song in a tv show or film, I doubt I would have minded.

Now on the other hand Jack White wrote music explictly for the coke. This although still unsettling seemed more exceptable for me as a listener since it was the creation of a new peice of art that had the purpose of selling coke. Where as I'm sure Jeff wasn't trying to sell cars when he penned "you are My Face"

I'm certain that even the first part of your sentence has not been "established" here.
