I went with QDoba over Chipotle. By just a slight edge. Although QDoba ripped off Chiopotle's concept, QDoba offers queso sauce. Queso sauce adds a lot to a burrito or tacos.

I ate at a Pollo Loco (crazy chicken?) for the first time a month or so ago on a whim and it was o.k.

And I've never been in the mood for panda, and quickly at that, so I've always passed on Panda Express.

But didn't Chipotle rip off Freebirds? Freebirds as FAR superior to both Chipotle and Qdoba

I don't know. I do know that Chipotle started here in Denver and that I've never heard of Freebirds. If it's a chain, they don't have any around here that I know of.

Chipotle was founded in Denver in 1993.

Qdoba (nee Zteca) was founded in Denver in 1995.

So, what's with Denver being ground zero for Subway-style Mexican fast-food joints? :unsure

I give the nod to Qdoba, personally, though we only got our first Chipotle here in the last year or two.

Denver has a very large Mexican population? I'm pretty sure that Mexican-American is the largest ethnicity in Denver now. Denver has much better Mexican food options (non-chain) but for fast food the Chipotle and Qdoba joints are a huge step above the shitty burger joints in terms of quality and nutritional value.

Carl's Jr. - Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich

In n' Out - Double Double with Animal style fries

Mr. Box - Sirloin burger w/ cheddar/grilled onions

and when you hit hard times, do up that Poor Man's Big Mac at McDonald's (the dollar double cheeseburger but sub out the mustard with big mac sauce)

I forgot about freebirds (It's mostly in texas, though it started in Santa Barbera long before chipotle and Q'doba if I recall correctly), but I added that. Chipotle still wins for me though, so no harm done. Boston Market was also a bad oversight :( I also added Chick-fil-A

(speaking of Texas things I forgot, there is no room for whattaburger :( )

there is no such thing as good Asian fast food.

Have to agree. So many Asian restaurants in the Seattle area, I can pick up authentic food from Japanese ramen (yes, real ramen and it's good!) to Sichuan to Thai to Vietnamese, etc. for less than $10, and in many cases, around $5. My favorite is a sushi combo with soup for $9.50 from the place 2 blocks away... unfortunately they're closed this week! So, it's Pho for $4 from a place that serves home-made cream puffs with each bowl - yum!

And for Mexican, I frequent a taco truck that makes awesome authentic burritos for $4 each.

I guess there's fast food chains, and there's food that's fast ;)

Such a close call on that one. Chipotle wins for burritos, but not having the nachos option hurts them.

My kid would live on black bean and cheese soft tacos from either locale, if I let her.

I voted for Chipotle, Culvers, and Popeyes. Their fried chicken and red beans and rice make me terribly happy.

For quick franchise Asian, I love Pei Wei. Noodles & Company, too.

Asian fast food? What fucking planet are you people on?

No, seriously, I had absolutely no idea Asian fast food existed. That blows my mind/scares me.

Actually, it's the chain thing -- I didn't realize there were "chain" Asian restaurants. South of Seattle there's an Asian mall with a huge grocery store (99 Ranch Market) and lots of mom & pop "fast food" stalls with food court type of seating -- but it's authentic, not chain "fast food". The amount of restaurants and languages spoken is impressive. Looks like some places are up for lease, but I don't foresee a Panda Express ;)

In SE Asia, aren't noodle stands and carts the granddaddy of all fast food? Places like that are awesome! Much, much, much better than Americanized Asian food that's made ahead so it can fester and congeal in a steam tray. :yucky
