jenbobblehead
We decided to have a minimally decorated home this year, so we picked up a 3 ft tree from lowes, and some pine boughs, and used stuff found in the apartment as decoration, rather than get all our stuff out of storage just to pack it up for the move. poppydawn
Here's what my husband was able to do before the gale-force winds hit this afternoon: It needs a little work, obviously. The tree has been purchased and is in the house. I call it The Beast and I'm convinced it's going to unfurl and suffocate us in our sleep. Decorations will appear on Tuesday or Wednesday. With having a 3-year-old and lots of friends with little kids, I'm not putting my breakables on the tree. We're going to make salt dough ornaments tomorrow and it'll take them a day or two for the paint to dry. I've been listening to "Holiday in Cambodia" today.
alison the wilca
Although we decided to get an artificial tree this year (less allergies, less risk of fire, etc), I think the kitty still likes it. The one negative is having to use LED lights on the tree... they just aren't as warm.
yermom
I've been listening to "Holiday in Cambodia" today.Really is the best of the holiday tunes. This thing makes me smile: Some cute kid standing next to the tree: As it looks right this minute (lights are out with the not so warming glow of Mitt Romney coming off of the tv screen across the room): I'll get around to doing outdoor things (no lights, usually just garlands and ribbons) at some point before Christmas but for now there is still a bale of hay with shriveled pumpkins and dried out mums lovingly displayed on the front porch. embiggen
we don't have anything up yet. we'll probably have lights on the balcony, but we are not putting up a tree. the kitty will just climb it and knock it down.

It will be interesting to see if the 1year old climbs it like he did last year when he was a little over 1 month old. I'll have to dig up the pics of that. pretty hysterical. poppydawn
It only took three days, but the tree's finally finished. Here's the ornaments the kiddo and I made out of salt dough. The garlic naan was not made of salt dough. Hanging the first ornament. And yes, she insisted on wearing Halloween jammies for the event. And this was just cute. Elixir Sue
My roomies' and my tree: Kinda blurry, and I really think it looks more impressive in person. We bought bubble lights this year, which is exciting.

This is the most exciting Christmas for her yet...she's old enough now to really get the whole thing. She has further enhanced our Christmas tree decorations by adding Garfield shoelaces and one of those plastic lei necklaces just randomly hung on the tree. Christmas + small children = awesomeness! Clara Jane (my daughter) will be four in February. You're so right - this has been the most fun Christmas with her yet. Although last year she did the tree-trimming. Every day I'd find something new and unexpected stuck into the branches. Like shoes. This year, she's all about Santa for the first time. We've done multiple practice runs for her visit to Santa. She makes me wear a Santa hat, then brings all of her stuffed animals to sit on my lap and tell me what they want for Christmas. I'm hoping this helps her have a good time when we go see Santa on Tuesday. It would be lovely to not have the annual Santa freak-out.

Guest Speed Racer
Today at work I'm planning to scrounge up three plastic bags, stuff them with shredded paper, stack them, and put eyes, a mouth and an orange highlighter nose on it, and have a snowman in my cubicle.
