jenbobblehead
I think it was Lundy's daughter. An unknown quantity. Someone on another message board suggest that the coffin is part of the "trinity" it is the unknown vagrant that he buries in the coffin, symbolizing himself and how he compartmentalized. I kind of like that theory. Lundy never picked up on some homeless dude going missing in all the communities, it could totally happen.

I kind of like that theory. Lundy never picked up on some homeless dude going missing in all the communities, it could totally happen.Yeah, that was what I was also thinking at first... that there's actually a 4th victim in the pattern that Lundy never picked up on. But it could be that this trip was designed for his suicide all along. I guess it depends on when he decided to kill himself - before the trip (he was at the end of his ashes, after all), or after he had his revelation and showed Dexter where it all began? cryptique
What's to be gained by having Rita get it on with the neighbor? The writers evidently don't realize how much we already hate her.
jenbobblehead
Maybe it is a vehicle for Dexter to have new feelings--of rage and jealousy? Betrayal? And to see what he does with them?
cryptique
As long as it results in Rita no longer being on the show, I'm all for it.
ih8music
BTW, Lithgow is playing Trinity brilliantly with his paper-thin normal guy, all-american dad facade. Next week's episode looks intense.
KevinG
So Trinity didn't kill Lundy after all... and that reporter is awfully short, isn't she? it sure does look like it. But what is the motive? To get a story? Pretty extreme.
ih8music
it sure does look like it. But what is the motive? To get a story? Pretty extreme.Yeah, unless (going way out on a limb) she also found out about Trinity's true identity and is somehow associated with him/trying to protect him. Another theory I heard is that it could have been one of Trinity's kids, brainwashed/controlled by force into doing precisely what Dad wants, no matter what.
jenbobblehead
Unless the reporter ends up being Lundy's daughter, i am going to assume she didn't do it.
OOO
I would suspect the reporter as the killer over Quinn. She has something to gain (a good story) and has already shown she is willing to go to great lengths to get the story. The big reveal will be when she reports information on one of the murders, and Quinn will realize he didn't tell her that information, and the only way she could have gotten it is if SHE was the killer. Maybe you'll end up looking really smart down the line.
m_thomp
Did I imagine it, or did Trinity empty the ashes before attempting to kill himself? If he did, then I guess there will be no more 'cycle of three' kills. How many episodes are left in the season? This should give a clue as to how close we are to seeing the Trinity / Lundy Killer puzzle being solved, or how many blind alleys we still have to go down. What with Christmas around the corner, I had a browse at the Showtime website. Did you know you can buy the Dexter kill suit?

m_thomp
I was thinking of getting my wife this t-shirt for Christmas, but they don't ship to the UK. Incidentally, the picture used in that link is a bit bizarre (as is this one). I mean, I could see it being appealing to women of a subserviant nature who wanted to look good whilst in the throes of a brutal murder and who regularly shop on the internet, but outside that demograph.... kinda loses its charm. Hooray for victim chic!

That's the hallmark of good writing... You're supposed to hate her. Isn't it amazing that we can buy into a story so much as to despise a good person because they stand in the way of our protagonist who is a complete psycho? I think they might be doing it because they want to set Dexter up for another murder of an "innocent."

I just can't stand the fact that she would probably send him to marriage counseling if he burned a damn roast. But I'm enjoying her "weak moment", and I think they'll use it as a chance for Dexter to get some space. If she caves and tells him or he just finds out that will most likely provide him with a couple get out of jail free cards and allow him to get back to work.
jmacomber68w
While that reporter girl is EASILY the hottest girl to be on the show, I think she is up to something... I'm gong to toot my own horn & say I called this potential reporter angle from the get go. I never trust new characters, especially hot ones. Someone said here that she might be one of Lundy's kids, that is genius. Have ever actually seen her in a newsroom? Wasn't she introduced to us viewers at a crime scene, standing in the wrong non-press area. She could be acting as a reporter...

Guest Runaway Jim
AHHH your right. I've been racking my brain trying to remember if there was ever proof of her actually being a reporter I know. This season has been a real mind-fuck. Other seasons weren't like that for me. Then again, I watched every other season on DVD so I didn't have a week to think about each episode. Anyway, I really liked your train of thought until I remembered that she did write that one article. At least we were led to believe that. Either way, she's clearly up to something and I think she was involved in the Lundy shooting. A different angle... I don't necessarily believe this, but I read elsewhere that some people think it was Masuka. Actually, they've thought it was Masuka since the beginning. He wasn't around in the episode at all and he seemingly has a motive in that he digs Deb, and doesn't get the attention of Lundy, despite having been the "LFI on the BHB case". So he kills Lundy and also hurts Dexter (who is getting his attention) by hurting Deb, and all the while, frees Deb of her love. And now, he fits the height requirement of the shooter. Again, I don't buy it, but it's an interesting take on it all.

Moss
I just watched the first disc of season 1 and I am loving it. It's a good thing there were only 4 episodes on there as I would have been at serious risk of deep vein thrombosis had there been more. I watched them one after the other and could not stop. I was afraid to read this entire thread as I'm sure there are tons of spoilers but I look forward to checking it out later.
Vacant Horizon
well, i'd hate to see masuka go, but it would be totally cool if it was revealed that masuka was also a serial killer who actually got rid of lundy for fear lundy would find him out. and of course he loves debra. Plus Doakes was "confirmed" as the bay harbor butcher. It would be pretty weird if some how masuka was now a killer. The Miami Metro PD would have to look at the pysch screenings of that department.
