I'd have a hard time believing that. We already had a murderous brother come out of the woodwork. I think we'll find out that Harry is his actual father. Harry felt responsible for what happened to Dexter's mother (both her murder and her pregnancy) and that is why he took Dexter and not the other brother.

I also have a hard time believing it, mostly because I just wouldn't want another big revelation to be some other hidden familial connection.

that sounds plausable. there is supposed to be a 'twist' and Deb looking into her dad's past seems to be coming back up with one of the former CI's showing back up. maybe deb was adopted?

i just dex nails trinity. maybe quinn and deb and dex are related. hell, i don't know. this last half of the season may be the best so far. it started out really cheesy, but is building up nicely. :thumbup

That was a great episode. Did anyone else spot that Dexter didn't have his gloves on when he checked the kid's pulse? Surely that would leave fingerprints or something and thus incriminating him? I don't think that will happen, though.

One of the theories I've read regarding the big twist is that Trinity is Paul's (Rita's ex) dad. Eyebrows were raised when his parents were mentioned by Rita for no obvious reason in the last episode.

I'm not buying the twist that Trinity is Dex's true father.

I actually think the twist might be Deb, through her digging of her dad's past (Dex's mum slaughtered in the cargo container in front of him and his Ice Truck Killer bro), might find out, or suspect, as a season ending cliffhanger, about Dex's hidden side.

One thing I think will happen is that Jonah will be the one who kills Trinity, not Dex.

I love this show. I'm wrong about like 90% of the things I think, but I don't care.

Lithgow is turning things upside down. He's such a great actor. Can a guest star win an Emmy? Because he's got my vote.

We've finally started getting Season 3 from Netflix, and we've been Dexterbinging every night. I forgot how much I love this show - I just love how every person, every line, ever detail is soooo deliberate; and you know it, but you're STILL surprised to see how everything ties together. Love this show. Can't wait to see Season 4, from what I've been reading here.

:lol You give my memory WAY too much credit. I also avoid the longer posts for that reason, though they mostly seem to be speculation.

I swear sometimes speculation is worse for me. I'd rather watch the dexter post here than go to showtime's official forum only because the people talking there are soooooo ridiculous.

I make sure to avoid this thread until I'm caught up on the latest episode for that very reason. Unfortunately I don't have Showtime so I have to d/l episodes, which means the earliest I get to watch it is on Monday.

ninjavideo dot net has the episodes steaming in high quality the night they air, fyi. Not that I'd ever break the law or anything.

Teen Says TV Show Inspired Him to Murder Little Brother

You know, I have thought about this before. What if some nut job tries to copy Dexter and start killing bad people? But never thought a kid would kill his own brother.. I know the show didn't make him do it, and the kid was obviously disturbed in the first place.. But still, very tragic.

So we know that Deb finds out who Dexter's mother is, and she also knew Ice Truck Killer is Brian Moser. I'm guessing she'll make the connection that they were siblings, but she'll take Dex's word that he didn't know.

Also did it look like Dexter was arrested in the previews? I can't wait to see what happens at the beginning of next week's episode!

I didn't catch any Dexter-is-arrested stuff in the previews, but the cuts in those are so swift that I easily could have missed it.

They sure did provide a hell of a setup for the season finale. I'm even beginning to wonder whether Trinity could survive into next season, and he and Dexter continue to circle each other for a while. Each now has the power to destroy the other, and it'd be fascinating to watch how that situation would eventually resolve.

I could be wrong, I need to watch it again too. It'd be kind of interesting having Trinity stick around a little longer and I don't think many people would mind. And yes, the finale looks like it's going to be an absolutely insane hour of television!

I wonder if Christine would have killed herself if Deb had just forgiven her?

I wondered that as well. Like, was Christine asking for some hope of redemption, and felt it was a lost cause after Deb said she couldn't forgive her? I kinda feel like Deb should've been more on top of that situation. She should've had her in handcuffs sooner.

Another good episode! However, it would've been better had I not caught the preview from the previous episode - that was too spoiler-ridden by far! So for me it felt like a very good holding pattern to get to the pay-off line, rather than a tense game of cat and mouse.

Fortunately, I didn't catch the preview for the finale, which makes me think it's going to be intense.

I'm still banking on a Jonah Trinity-kill (although I agree it would be good, and break the usual cycle, to have the season's special guest star to survive and comeback), and the season cliffhanger to be Deb to discover Dex's other side.

I really hope Dex gets to kill Trinity. While it would be nice to have Lithgow back next season, because he's the man, I really want to see Dex kill him. The dialogue between Dex and Trinity while Trinity is shrink-wrapped to the table should be about as good as any has ever been on the show.

I'm really interested to see the direction they take with the whole Deb/Dexter's true identity story line.

Someone told me that they've officially said Season 5 would be the last. Can anyone confirm? I haven't heard that from anyone else.

So, where does it go from here? I think the most intriguing question leading up to the next season is what Dexter decides to do. Does he:

- Call 911, and subject himself to loads of suspicion, both as a potential suspect in Rita's murder, and as someone connected to the Trinity case (the cops are bound to make the connection based on the method of Rita's murder)

- Cover up Rita's murder and create an alternate explanation for her disappearance

- Stage a different scene for Rita's murder (i.e., not the bathtub) in an attempt to erase any connection to Trinity, then call 911

- Something else?

What becomes of Astor and Cody? They're not Dexter's biological kids ... maybe they'll be raised by the "goofy grandparents"? And what about Harrison? How will Dexter fare as a single-dad serial killer?

So many things to ponder. That was one hell of a finale!

Here's how i was thinking it might play out, seeing as i was pretty sure Trinity did something before heading off into the sunset in his mustang...

Dexter wakes up from his concussion from the first (?) episode of this season. He's by the side of the road, having been thrown from his vehicle. Who is there when he opens his eyes? Trinity. Now Dexter has all the knowledge of what he thinks happened over the last several months, but it has only been a few minutes. He has no idea what is real. Is Trinity a serial killer, or a just a dude who stopped by the side of the road? Maybe too farfetched but Rita being dead in the bathtub and harrison sitting in a pool of blood (not even near the bathtub, btw) was a little too trite for me!

amazing episode. I sent a text to my friend saying, quote...

I hope someone kills Rita before she gets in the way

I take all that back now :(

Anyways, I gotta theory here,

If trinity killed Rita, wouldn't Trinity bring it up while on Dexters table? I figured he would have said something like, "ya well I killed Rita so take that!" This leads me to consider the possibility that Trinity's family killed Rita. I've never really trusted his wife or daughter. Remember in the station, someone brings up the fact that she could have been involved with the killings. In response someone says that "she puked" when she saw the pictures. Immediately Masuka goes, "that can be faked" I'm taking that as a clue!

My refutation of your theory... ;)

But Trinity did allude to Rita's murder while on Dexter's table. I believe the line was "It's already over," spoken at least twice. OK, so this is vague, but Trinity knows that Dexter will be the one to discover the body, and he knows that Dexter will know who did it based on the murder scene. So he doesn't need to come out and say it -- he already knows he has the last word, in a way.
