Silent Assassin
That's where the second part of my post comes in (making insurance cheaper). If it makes insurance cheap enough for people at the poverty line than I'd be all for it. Just not so sure it would.

Beltmann
What country is she from? This isn't directed at Tweedling, but is a generalized observation: I saw Michelle Obama's speech in its entirety (on C-SPAN), and within context it was clear what she meant by that line, and it should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. I can't believe so many people get so worked up about such meaningless, petty crap. We could be talking about health care in this country, and instead we talk about Obama's middle name. Jeebus. Speaking of stupid "gotcha" politics, why is it that Ms. Clinton so often stoops to such levels? When she resorts to such childish "gotcha" politics, you marvel at how those vaunted 35 years of experience somehow gave her the political acumen of a gossiping sixth grader. embiggen
yeah, Ms. Clinton is running a very disappointing, dirty campaign. she can't even congratulate her opponent. I hope she falls flat on her face in Texas.

quarter23cd
OMG, Hillary called me last night! I was checking my voicemail and there was a call from the 703 area code in N. Va and I assumed it was my parents, but lo and behold a voice gets on and says "Hi, this is Hillary Clinton!" and I was like "Whoa!" And she went on to talk about how sensitive she is to important issues facing us here in Ohio. Really made me feel good that she took time out to call me personally. I figure she'll have me on speed-dial when she is Vice President. I've been thinking about branching out my career into political consulting.

MrRain422
Michelle Obama's comment was clearly about our politics, not the nation as a whole. It's pretty obvious to anyone who heard/saw the quote in context. And I really can't say she's wrong.

John Smith
Maybe, but it's still a big mistake by the Obama campaign, and they're going to have to address it publicly. Whether they adress it or not the Faux News and Rush Limbaugh's of the world are going to beat it to death in a manner similar to the never happened "I invented the internet" quote. I am torn on this one. On one hand I see a potential message discipline problem from the Obama camp. On the other hand it is refreshing to hear something not scripted, that is not pandering. And of course the "serious" news outlets will overanalyze the statement for months keeping it in the news while they ignore McCain's statements about carrying on the Bush Policies into his adminsitration. No good ever comes from statements like that.
Beltmann
What's annoying about that kind of bitching is that those commentators know they are being petty spinmeisters, spinning a gripe that has no substance whatsoever. If anyone deserves criticism, it's them. Every time they try to land such low, meaningless blows, I feel personally insulted--do they really think I, and by extension all Americans, are dumb enough to buy this crap? (The worst part is that too many Americans do buy this crap.)
