THANK YOU WILCO!

Recommended Posts

As I sit here at my desk at work replaying in mind all that was over these past 6 days, I can't ignore the fact of how lucky and fortuante I feel to have attended in what I can best sum up as the best week of music in my life. Seeing one of the top live bands in the world, at the pinnacle of their musical career's over 5 magical nights is something I will never forget. The experience was nothing short of incredible, the fellas didnt just meet expectations, but completely went above and beyond even the biggest "fanatic's" wildest dreams. We have all just made history indeed. So thank you Wilco.

Wilco history. I went saturday night, and had the hardest time listening to the streams and looking at the setlists and not being disapointed. I need to hear Pieholden Suite somehow though!

Thank you Wilco for spoiling all of us, really. My love for this band has grown by leaps and bounds over the last year, and I think a lot of it has to do with how much gratitude they show their fans, and how generous they are. They could have some stupid overpriced fan club for presale codes, webcasts, and bonus materials, but they give it all away for free. What other band puts a request form up on their website at the start of a tour?

Wilco's music has brought a lot of comfort to me in tough times and a lot of joy to me during happy times, but I have so much respect for them, too. They're not in it for the money. They're in it because they love music. That's clear to anyone who listens to their albums or anybody who gets to see them live. Every Wilco show I've ever been to has felt like a gift. I really hope I get the chance to tell them that, if not this weekend, then some other time.

Wednesday night's show -- haunting, mesmirizing, electrifying, gratifying, outrageously mind-blowing. It could not be topped. You inspire me to strive for perfection in my own sphere of life. Every single last song could be commented on in so many different ways. But for me, Jeff is attaining Johnny Cash stature in my mind. A legend, a power. Blood of the Lambs, I felt like I was in a country western -- no clue what lyrics are in total to know if it even matches up -- but I felt like Christian Bale may walk out in a scene from 3:10 to Yuma. The energy in that room for I'm a Wheel, Casino Queen -- out of control. Manical, playful, a whole combo. I felt like I was at a bar off a beaten path with 50 people when John Stirrat took the lead and everyone went wild, and John & Jeff hugged. The whole thing had a feel of a movie to me. The end with the instruments on their own and them walking off, theater at its finest. A poem, a movie, a book, love, sadness, elation, an up, a down can all be conjured by the band. To feel life in that way is what life is all about. How good does that have to feel for the band -- to know they can give that gift to people. Phenomenal, Wilco, totally unfriggin believably phenomenal. It will never be forgotten.
