Gobias Industries
Since it is already bubbling up in other threads, it may be better to divert it here instead of in Who vs. Stones vs. Beatles vs. Bob Dylan vs. everyone else threads. bobbob1313
I don't get the love for "Whats Going On". I love Marvin, but I don't think that's a great album. Talk about filler.
Twisted Acres
What's Going On is absolute magic. It is positively not filler. Incredibly vital for it's time, and still vital today. For me it's top 5 and certainly challenges Revolver for #1.

bobbob1313
???????????????????????????????????????????? I do not understand why so many people love this album. Despite how much I like Marvin, I'm not a fan of this album. It has too much filler for me.

DAngerer09
Among several others on the list, I never understood the love for Pet Sounds. I have tried listening to Pet Sounds several times and I cannot get into it.
Twisted Acres
It has too much filler for me. What's Happening Brother?Flying High in the Friendly Sky?Save the Children?God is Love?Right On?Wholy Holy? Which are filler? They all play a vital role in the composition of this album. bobbob1313
They might be vital in the album, but since I don't think the album is all that vital, I'm not a big fan of some of the tracks. Maybe filler isn't the right word, but some of the songs aren't as strong as others, and thus, it doesn't really work for me.

bobbob1313
Pet Sounds has tons of filler, but the good songs are so good that you kind of forget about the not so good ones. It's alot like Exile on Main St. in that way.
Sir Stewart
I can't imagine skipping anything on Exile - y'all crazy.
bobbob1313
If it makes you feel any better, there's a very good chance Paul's Boutique probably makes the top 20 that I'm never going to make.

bobbob1313
I don't think it's a top 20 album either. But there aren't many albums that can top "Sloop John B", "God Only Knows", and "Wouldn't It Be Nice".
Lammycat
"Sloop John B." is a great tune.
Synthesizer Patel
Pet Sounds has tons of filler, but the good songs are so good that you kind of forget about the not so good ones. It's alot like Exile on Main St. in that way. What do you mean by filler? I take that to mean that the people making the music are half-arsed on these tracks and just doing them to fill the gaps between the other songs. This is something I'd say was the polar opposite of everything on Pet Sounds. Someone said it about What's Going On? too, again that album was not made with that attitude in any way shape or form. Now, if someone says Help! is there favourite album, then you can say there is filler - cos there clearly is. Not that the filler songs are bad or otherwise, it's just that full effort was not put into every track on that album.

deepseacatfish
Big Star - #1 Record/Radio CityCombined this would definitely make my list, but I don't know it is after all two records.
bobbob1313
Filler, in my eyes is any song that isn't as good as the rest of the songs on the album. I don't really know about the artists intent, as there are songs like "Her Majesty" that were obviously intended as throwaways but which are still essential to the album. I suppose when I say filler I just mean songs that I could take or leave. They just serve as buffers between the other better songs.
