Three dollars and 63 cents
I'll get around to seeing Pearl Jam one of these days. Not this time around, though, I don't think. KOL is a great choice for an opener for them, though. I saw them open for U2 a few years ago and really enjoyed them, even though the crowd was pretty rude to them (and was for the whole tour, from what I've gathered). They're still young, but I've been a fan since their debut EP, and it's been cool to watch them evolve.
bobbob1313
I'll be seeing them at Bonnaroo. Should I see them 2 days before that too?

tangara
I'm holding out for some Alpine Valley dates later this summer. Maybe fall. Cool for the coasties, though.
intodeep
I'll be seeing them at Bonnaroo. Should I see them 2 days before that too?Yep. Great thing about pearl jam is they vary their sets from night to night a lot. I'm sure they'll trot out the hit parade at bonnaroo because it is a festival but you may get more hidden nuggets by going to one of their regular shows. i'm going to try to get tickets to the columbia show if i can. Analogman
Pearl Jam Reteams With Brendan O'Brien For New AlbumPearl JamMay 02, 2008, 5:30 PM ETJessica Letkemann, N.Y. Pearl Jam has started recording its ninth studio album with producer Brendan O'Brien, guitarist Mike McCready told Seattle radio station KISW yesterday (May 1). Though only "four or five" songs are being worked on so far, McCready said the band is hoping to release the record in 2008. The new effort, a follow-up to its self-titled 2006 album, finds Pearl Jam reteaming with longtime producer Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine) for the first time since 1998's "Yield." O'Brien has also produced Pearl Jam's "Vs." (1993), "Vitalogy" (1994) and "No Code." The two parties first reunited last year to record a cover of the Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" for the soundtrack to the Adam Sandler film "Reign Over Me." "Brendan works really fast," Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament told Billboard.com in March. "He's a super pro. I've always felt, working with him, that he understood me as a bass player and that's not always easy. A lot of producers are there to please the singer. But I've always had a great rapport with him. I can tell him I want something to sound like the O'Jays or Led Zeppelin or PJ Harvey and he gets it." "We've always been friends," O'Brien told Billboard.com last fall. "They were great to me when we were making records together [before], and we still remained very good friends ... I still think they're a great band. Eddie [Vedder] has one of the best, if not the best, voices out there. When he sings, people believe them." As previously reported, Pearl Jam is about to embark on a 13-date East Coast tour that runs from June 11-30. In an effort to support Portland, Ore., U.S. Senate candidate Steve Novick, the band has set aside special tickets to its sold-out shows in New York, Camden, N.J., and Washington, D.C., that include donations to Novick's campaign. Novick donation tickets to the Washington, D.C., show include access to a meet-and-greet with guitarist Stone Gossard. Last month, Gossard was among a group of musicians that also included R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe, the Decemberists' Colin Meloy, Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker and Spoon's Britt Daniel who released a letter of support for the candidate. Pearl Jam's eponymous 2006 album peaked at No 2 on The Billboard 200 and lead single "World Wide Suicide" reached No. 1 on the Modern Rock chart.

Analogman
Exactly. I am curious to what it will sound like. Now, it they could just get Jack Irons to re-join the band. . .
solace
Exactly. I am curious to what it will sound like. Now, it they could just get Jack Irons to re-join the band. . . preaching to the choir brother! Cameron is an amazing drummer, but in Pearl Jam his drumming is fairly straight forward rock drumming most of the time. Doesn't even come close to how creative his drumming w/ Soundgarden was. Jack, while he couldn't play the harder rock stuff quite as good or as powerful, he had an amazing feel and just overall touch/sound to his playing that brought a totally different organic feel to them. I think his joining the band had a lot to do with the overall sound of No Code too.
Analogman
I decided to break out Vitalogy (Dave Abbruzzese, of course) and No Code - great stuff. Immortality - I love that song.

LouisvilleGreg
I know the guy who is playing bass for Ted Leo from back aways. He lived in Richmond when I first got here and played in some great punk bands, going back 15-20 years. He has probably never played in front of more than 500 people in his life. Now, thanks to PJ's continued good taste in opening bands, Ted Leo are playing in front of arena crowds in the 1,000's everynight. Also they took out MMJ and even the Buzzcocks before. Kudos to PJ for digging a little deeper with these superb opening acs.

Analogman
Pearl Jam Plans To Let New Songs 'Grow Up'Mike McCreadyRelated Links: Pearl Jam Reteams With Brendan O'Brien For New AlbumMay 15, 2008, 6:15 PM ETGary Graff, Detroit Pearl Jam has gotten a start on its next album, but it's still in "its very infant stages" according to guitarist Mike McCready. "We've had one session of writing and it has yielded ... about five ideas so far," McCready told Billboard.com during a conference call with reporters about this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival, which Pearl Jam will headline on June 14. "Some of it's kind of poppy and some of it's a little hard. We want it to grow up a little bit. We have to revisit it a few times." Pearl Jam is working on the album, the follow-up to 2006's "Pearl Jam," with longtime associate Brendan O'Brien. And though the band is known for previewing new and unrecorded material at its shows, McCready says that's unlikely to happen on Pearl Jam's upcoming North American tour. "We might get into some sort of jam," the guitarist said. "We have about 200 songs to pull from, so we'll do that and maybe do some obscure B-sides. For new stuff, I don't know if we have it refined enough to want to play it in front of an audience yet. We don't want to hack in front of everybody." Nevertheless, McCready said Pearl Jam is looking forward to its first visit to Bonnaroo, where drummer Matt Cameron will also be performing a jazz set. "I think it's a perfect fit," McCready said. "We try to keep everything as in-house and small and as punk rock and do-it-yourself as we can. That's part of our way of doing business. That fits right in with how Bonnaroo is doing theirs." As for jamming with other acts at the festival, McCready said that "if we run into somebody, 'Hey, you want to come up and jam?,' that's kind of how our band works." But he's hoping to run into one person in particular. "I'd love to have Jack White up," McCready said. "I think he's just a phenomenal guitar player. I'd love to see him play up close ... because he's got a killer voice and he's a great lead player, too. That would be exciting to me." McCready also said that Pearl Jam plans to continue making live recordings available to fans from its upcoming tour -- which starts June 11 in West Palm Beach, Fla. -- but isn't sure what form that will take yet. watch me fall
I'm really starting to get excited for this show. I've been a fan for so long and have never gotten the chance to see Pearl Jam live. My old crush on Eddie Vedder may emerge! Anyway, what can anyone tell me about Kings of Leon? We're trying to figure out if we want to just skip their part of the show and hang out at the bar a little longer.
leatherman
Kings of Leon are great. I recommend checking out their latest cd Because of the Times. Their singers voice is an acquired taste but after I heard it a few times, they are now one of my favorite bands. Also, chances are good Eddie will do a solo acoustic tune before they play and then join them for the last song of KOL's set, usually slow night, so long of the aha shake heartbreak cd.. Analogman
Pearl Jam, Verizon Go Mobile For Live BootlegsPearl JamJune 10, 2008, 9:00 PM ETJonathan Cohen, N.Y. Pearl Jam has struck a deal with Verizon Wireless' V Cast service to sell select tracks from the authorized live bootlegs that will be available in conjunction with the band's upcoming summer tour. The trek begins tomorrow (June 11) in West Palm Beach, Fla. This extension of Pearl Jam's long-running live bootleg program will result in three tracks from each show (excluding Bonnaroo) immediately being available via V Cast and PearlJamConcerts.com: one as a free mobile download, and two others for purchase. All V Cast tracks will be "dual downloads," meaning once purchased, they are sent to both the mobile phone and the user's computer. They will feature Verizon's existing DRM system, and will also be sold as ringtones and ringbacks. The Verizon deal also includes mobile tickets. Any fan downloading any type of Pearl Jam content from V Cast -- going back to the beginning of the year -- is eligible to win seats to an upcoming show. Winning fans will receive their ticket directly to their phone, in the form of a barcode that can be scanned at the venue's entrance. In addition, DRM-free digital tour bootlegs will be sold in FLAC format. A less expensive MP3 option will also be available, with all digital versions hitting PearlJam.com exclusively two weeks following each show. And while in the past Pearl Jam has utilized a proprietary download tool to help fans manage acquisition of their bootlegs, "We aren't using a download manager this time around," Pearl Jam fan club manager Tim Bierman tells Billboard.com. "Customers will download through their individual browsers. Those needing help with larger files/slower connections will be advised to use a free download manager available on the Web." The bootleg series, which began on CD in 2000 but went digital-only for Pearl Jam's 2006 tour, will once again have a physical component this summer. CDs will be manufactured on demand and will be mailed within three weeks of the show. "The packaging will be consistent with previous bootleg endeavors," Bierman says. The Pearl Jam camp says more than 3.5 million copies of the live bootlegs have been sold since the program's inception.
