Reni
Varitek? Seriously? Also, AL pitching staff seems to have too many relievers. -Jorge Crede hasn't been good lately and, without looking it up, I'd guess there's someone more deserving.

MrRain422
Yeah, Varitek is having a pretty bad year -- that pick is pretty hard to justify, even when allowing for the team's manager to pick a few more of his own guys than really deserve it. If there had to be a third catcher on the roster, it probably should have been Pierzynski or maybe Shoppach. At 3B, I'd take Lowell or Huff over Crede.
bjorn_skurj
Wagner is the only Met that deserves to be an All-Star this year.
MrRain422
I'm disappointed but not at all surprised to see only one Tiger on the team this year, although I think that Francona should give serious consideration to Marcus Thames to take Papi's roster spot.
sweetheart-mine
it's kind of weird for the rsox, at second place in their division, not to have a starting pitcher on there, but it's understandable. beckett might be on there if our offense wouldn't tank half the time when he pitches, for some reason. the lack of papi is one big reason, needless to say, but dice-k is pitching terribly most of the time and the offense manages to hand him a win anyhow. it's a little surprising that manny made it this year. it really is not being his best year (though i love the guy anyway). bjorn_skurj
but i just overlooked the fact that he left last nights game and wasnt playing today due to more post concussion syndrome symptoms. To be honest, I think the only responsible thing for the Mets to do is put him on the 60-day DL and see what happens after that. One more clock on the head could permanently damage the kid, or even kill him, IHVH forbid.
radiokills
yeah, post concussion syndrome is really a long term ordeal. endy chavez is a great outfielder and is starting to raise his average, if thats any reassurance. i also think that damion easley should permanently play second base, hes such a talented hitter, and castillo isnt producing. caliber66
dice-k is pitching terribly most of the timeMatsuzaka is 9-1 with a 3.12 ERA. He walks too many batters, but he doesn't often pitch "terribly."
MrRain422
Tigers and Mariners played a pretty crazy 15 inning game today. The Tigers scored the winning run off of Jamie Burke, who moved to the mound after being the M's catcher for the previous 5 innings. I sort of feel bad for Nate Roberston getting a no decision. That must have been one of the best starts of his career (9 innings, 1 run, 4 hits, though just one K -- 2 BB but both were intentional).
Smokestack Joe
hey thanks for voting for RYAN BRAUN!!!! starting outfielder NL. that is the way it should be. oh yeah CC is a Brewer!
Beltmann
hey thanks for voting for RYAN BRAUN!!!! starting outfielder NL. that is the way it should be. oh yeah CC is a Brewer!Plus, the Crew swept Pit, bypassing the Cardinals by percentage points in both the division and wild card races. Today was a good day for the Brewers. I have mixed feelings about the Sabathia trade. Overall the deal makes good baseball sense, but I still fear we might regret giving up LaPorta for a half-season rental.
sweetheart-mine
Matsuzaka is 9-1 with a 3.12 ERA. He walks too many batters, but he doesn't often pitch "terribly." ok. of the last four games he pitched, he won 1 and in general this year "hasn't been impressive," IMO. i believe he has had some really good luck with several of his wins -- according to our tv in our living room -- but hey, i hope 100% that i'm wrong and he is perfect. i like the guy. he's still adjusting. jenbobblehead
DiceK makes a lot of sox fans a little nervous. He's kind of like a Japanese Mike Timlin. Poor Mike Lowell not making the All Star game. I looked at the swag today online and thought about getting a player tee shirt, but honestly do not think I can wear a t shirt that features Yankee Stadium in any way. I love my stuff from the All Star game last year, with the ball plunking into the bay. Yankee Stadium--not so much. I appreciate, I suppose that this is the last year and all but I just don't think i can do it. Not even for Love Of The Game.

jenbobblehead
That's how I feel, except, as Brewers fan, it's the 1982 World Series standing in the way. Game 7 may have ruined my entire childhood. "Fanatic" uh huh.

Duck-Billed Catechist
So does anyone else find those statues that mlb is hawking to be extremely tacky and borderline-offensive? Also, can I hear a word for John Danks, please?

He had an awful game immediately after he came off the DL, but aside from that game, he's done pretty well. His WHIP is far too high, for sure, though.

Yeah, those SUCK. Honestly the stuff in San Francisco was far cooler, and more playful. Even the ad campaign with all the players jumping onto the cable car was excellent.
