uncle wilco
I still worry that the Dems will find a way to blow it. (again) God I hope so. The thought of a 72 year-old bowl of jello being all that stands between Obama and the White House makes me wanna puke.
Panther
"All this navel gazing crap with Florida and Michigan leads to a question. What is really the value of the long and elaborate dance known as the presidential primary season?, asks the simpleton Canadian." well we let are four parties pick their own leaders , were not to hip to this republic thing kinda stuck in the monarchy days(hail the queen, mandatory)Yet somehow this unique brand of socialism hasnt collaplsed unto itself. I think thats the Change Obama wants to bring American socialism, finally(globalism)That scares me though as Im sure the smarter of you all know that wont work in a rebulic(not democracy). Still i'll support Obama until he dose something crazy like cary staff as if hes a religious leader, oh wait he did that today in Virgina, still better than Mcain by lightyears.I think that whole Ron Paul thing could've had a real shot if Colbert didnt destroy him in the eyes of his liberal vewiers, Im rambling. For the record, Obama the next president of the united staes, I'd love to see that.

Is this some stupid HRC supporter with a blog stirring up nonsense, or is this for real? Oh man. http://hillbuzz.blogspot.com/2008/06/whats...-rant-tape.htmlAs many of you know, there has been an ever-shifting intenet rumor launched publicly by an extremely unreliable pro-Clinton blogger, Larry Johnson, that there is a video recording of Michelle Obama saying some intemperate things at Trinity United Church. The way that this story is being spread leads me to think that there is little or nothing to the rumors, which is why I haven
explodo
http://www.reason.com/blog/show/126883.html Edit: The quote didn't format correctly after my copy and paste, so I might recommend following the link if you want to comprehend what is going on and happen to be having trouble. On Monday I blogged about the rumors of a video that shows Michelle Obama making hateful comments about "whitey." I'm now convinced that Larry Johnson, the blogger who's done the most to make the rumors public, is spreading misinformation. At the least, he's been unable to stick to his story. Johnson starts getting attention for this on May 26, recounting intel from "someone in touch with a senior Republican." I know for a fact that Barack and Michelle Obama would like the tape of her blasting “whitey” during a rant at Jeremiah Wright’s church to never see the light of day. On the night of May 31, Johnson fires up the speculation by promising an update by 9 a.m. on June 2. "Now I know why people who have seen the videotape say it is stunning." The blogs start churning, and reporters fish around. On June 1, Roger Stone appears on Fox News and says he's heard rumors about a Michelle Obama tape. Gleefully, a NoQuarter blogger completes the Mobius strip and claims Stone has given Johnson "new credence." A little before 8 a.m. on June 2, Johnson reveals what he learned from "five separate sources who have spoken directly with people who have seen the tape." It features Michelle Obama and Louis Farrakhan. They are sitting on a panel at Jeremiah Wright’s Church when Michelle makes her intemperate remarks. Whoops!! The bloggy frenzy increases, with a few possible "transcripts" of the speech making the rounds. Booman posts a theoretical transcript ("from what I understand") in which Obama says "why'd he" and it sounds like she's saying "whitey." Blogger MyTownTalks posts part of "an e-mail with part of the alleged speech," in which Obama says both "whitey" and "why'd he," and rants about "the white man" who "let Katrina happen." Later in the day, Johnson gleefully updates: Major Obama donors went to the campaign demanding explanations after the posting of my story on No Quarter about the contents of the videotape confirmed to me by several reliable sources, all Republicans with access to knowledge but who do not know each other. So the campaign created a would-be transcript of the video it says doesn’t exist. In the Obama campaign produced transcript Michelle says “why’d he” instead of “whitey.” Very clever. Then the campaign sent this transcript to key Obamaton bloggers to circulate. And the campaign sent it to the donors to prevent them from having a nervous breakdown. On the morning of June 3, B-list Democratic pundit Bob Beckel goes on Fox News and speculates that "there might be a big shoe dropping on Michelle Obama tomorrow." Later that night, after all the polls are closed, SusanUnPC posts a photo of Michelle Obama at a June 28, 2004 luncheon from the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition convention in Chicago, posing alongside Louis Farrakhan's wife. It kicks off another wave of speculation. On June 4, a blogger at "HillBuzz" posts a new explanation of what's on the tape and claims it was actually recorded at this luncheon. For about 30 minutes, Michelle Obama launched into a rant about the evils of America, and how America is to blame for the problems of Africa. Michelle personally blamed President Clinton for the deaths of millions of Africans and said America is responsible for the genocide of the Tutsis and other ethnic groups. She then launched into an attack on "whitey", and talked about solutions to black on black crime in the realm of diverting those actions onto white America. Her rant was fueled by the crowd: they reacted strongly to what she said, so she got more passionate and enraged, and that's when she completely loses it and says things that have made the mouths drop of everyone who's seen this. Louis Farrakhan isn't there, nor is Hurricane Katrina (which happened a year after this luncheon, of course) mentioned. Nonetheless, Johnson links the post as "BREAKING NEWS from Hillbuzz." I am not trying to steal thunder from HillBuzz. That blogger is breaking important news. National Review's Jim Geraghty finds the schedule of the Rainbow/PUSH event. First, the event was held at a Sheraton 14 miles away from Trinity United, yet Hillbuzz claims that Trinity United was selling a tape of this on the church web site. Second, Bill Clinton spoke at the conclusion of the conference, days after this event, yet Hillbuzz theorized that Obama was raging against Clinton. Third, Obama wasn't a featured speaker at the event: Rev. Jesse Jackson was. Michelle Obama was, with freed POW Shoshanna Johnson, a "special guest." There was no panel. It seems strange that the state senator's wife would give a 30-minute speech during a 2-hour luncheon at which she wasn't even the speaker. Later in the day, Johnson whines about the pro-Obama bloggers causing a "diversion." I learned last week that Republicans have a tape of Michelle in a racist rant. She does so while part of a panel discussion. I do not know where this occurred. That's my emphasis because two days earlier Johnson reported that Obama was sitting with Louis Farrakhan at Trinity United, and a week before that Johnson was already reporting that Obama's rant was at Trinity United. Johnson starts walking back the story by sputtering that "with or without said tape, we do know that the Obamas participated for almost 20 years in a church that espoused racism." But "without said tape," there's no story. Let's rewind it back. Johnson, on June 2: It features Michelle Obama and Louis Farrakhan. They are sitting on a panel at Jeremiah Wright’s Church. Johnson, two days later. I do not know where this occurred. In his peddling of this story, Johnson has altered his description of what was in the tape. I e-mailed Johnson, asked about the holes in the HillBuzz story, and called him a liar. He e-mailed me back. You and Reason in the same sentence? Now that's funny. I don't recall soliciting an email from you so fuck off. Until he comes out with a video tape that shows at least one of the many rumored "Michelle speeches," I think that's the last we need to hear from Larry Johnson.

fatheadfred
History will show that his true contribution -- the one thing he did to save America -- was not die or kill himself so that Cheney would have completely taken over the oval office. And that the severity of his blunders have shown us how important it is to be involved in the process of politics, especially the President. I recall during the Clinton years the sentiment was 'the President is just a symbol'. I believe voter turnouts have increased in since the 2000 election?
uncle wilco
I can't wait till Bush leaves so we can focus on other things. Like congress and their 18.7% approval rating. Seeing real socialism put into action. The death of the middle class. You know, the fun stuff. Until then, this "typical white person" is going to "cling to his guns and religion" while he waits in anticipation of Obama healing this "broken soul". I can't remember a politician (or his wife) ever spewing this much pompous B.S. during a primary season. It would almost be comical if he didn't have a real shot of winning. Which, much to my horror, I expect him to. Barack has set the expectations awful high and his plans are going to absolutely wreck this country. You think things suck now? Just wait. This man has no freaking clue what he's doing. But by all means, give this naive prick the car keys. Because it's all about Hope...Change...Blah, blah, blah... [applause] ...blah blah.... I was referring to the "Hope, Change" empty cliched stuff heard at every election. Barack is no different from the typical politician other than the fact that he is a certified socialist and completely open about it. He surrounds himself with radicals until they end up embarrassing him and hurt his campaign. Then he gives the standard "that's not the person I knew" B.S. speech. I wonder if he'll ever have to pull out that on his wife if she ever says anything worse than she already has. "That's not the Michelle I knew" Now that would be hilarious. I'm a cynical guy as well but I believe he is more than empty promises. I also firmly believe that he will be good for the middle class. As far as 'surrounding himself with radicals", I just believe that this is the only thing that his detractors can "find" on him. I don't see any evidence that he has ever thought this way. fatheadfred
Our country could use a dose of socialist philosophy. Note, I said dose, not full on, which would never happen anyway. I would rather have someone sending expectations to the nation, the politicians, and himself than someone who realizes we are screwed and will continue to be screwed and continue to screw other nations with our resource exploration, domestic subsidies, and democracy proselytizing. I am no fan of Bush at all and have no desire to defend his continued blunders that made it possible for Barack Obama to win the nomination. People are so depressed and disenchanted with government (and they should be) that they want to project all their hopes and dreams onto a fresh face. Barack serves that purpose. On the surface he certainly seems a nice enough guy. Barack is largely a mystery, so all we have to go on is who he has associated himself with, and that list is a bit frightening. Not to say that Barack has all the same principles of a Rezko (convicted criminal), Ayers (terrorist), Wright (racist), Davis (communist), Malley (advisor and Hamas contact), Pfleger (a-hole), etc. But Barack's pattern of who is allowed in his inner circle is alarming. Even his wife has a history of foot-in-mouth moments that cause one to question her motives as well. Giving Barack a free pass is an incredible leap of faith for a country that is currently circling the drain. So, excuse me if I don't immediately buy into his load of crap. fatheadfred
I, too, have little faith in the federal gov't. The presidential election is usually 'voting for the other idiot'. I wasn't excited about Kerry, but what choice did I have? I am definitely not voting for McCain. Perhaps I am under the Obama spell too. He does present himself as a good candidate and he did not vote to invade Iraq. That point speaks volumes about character. As far as shady people in his briefcase... what politician doesn't? Not saying it is right but it is a stale tactic that diverts from policy discussions.
