This thread makes me think of this:

When I was in, they could still grab people.

 

Anyhow - Christianity serves several purposes to those in the military:

 

1. In times of war, those who serve are afraid they are going to die,

so they start thinking about the supposed afterlife.

2. If those who serve end up killing people in combat they feel guilty, and therefore, seek redemption.

3. Christianity is a component of Manifest Destiny.

 

There are no atheists in foxholes.

 

A nation of patriotic citizens who dedicate themselves to protecting and defending
