mfwahl
SAN FRANCISCO - Federal prosecutors say they will prove personal trainer Greg Anderson supplied Barry Bonds with the steroids that led to a positive test in November 2000, the offseason before the slugger hit a major league record 73 home runs. In a court filing Wednesday, prosecutors say they have two documents showing Bonds tested positive for anabolic steroids in 2000 and that Anderson supplied the drugs. Bonds has pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of making false declarations to a grand jury and one count of obstruction of justice.
bobbob1313
I'm sure that the new stadium will help. Just look what it did for the Nationals! That's dumb. The Marlins are already a well run, competitive organization who have secured their 4th winning season in the last 6 despite being forced by a bad stadium lease to keep payroll low. With a new revenue stream, the general manager will be given much more flexibility to make long term deals that make sense for the franchise as well as lure in bigger free agents. Don't you think it's kind of ridiculous for a Red Sox fan to pick on a Marlins fan?

bobbob1313
What does that have to do with anything? It's like Bill Gates driving through an area with a high homeless population and saying to the homeless people "Man, it sure is nice to have a home!" Or something. It's just kind of pointless. MrRain422
All sports fandom is, at it's core, pointless. Other than being a whole lot of fun. And I think taking cracks at other teams is part of that.

bobbob1313
I'm not picking on you. I just think that it is silly to pin the hopes of your team's success on a new stadium. It's silly if you are ignorant of the current situation the Marlins are in. When a shitty stadium + lease has been what has kept 3 seperate ownerships from putting money into the team on the field, then yeah I'd say a new stadium is a lot to be excited for. At our current stadium, the team recieves no money at all from parking or concessions, and those are two huge money makers for a team. When all you can rely on are ticket sales you aren't going to make much money. Really, they've got a great core group of young players and probably 5 or 6 top 100 prospects that will be ready in the next year and a half - two years. If they can get a stadium done and actually have a reliable revenue stream, they'll be able to keep their star young players. You guys keep making cracks about Hanley being traded, well a new stadium would mean he won't be traded. That's the kind of thing Marlins fans get excited about. And the Marlins are a much more well run organization than the Nats from a baseball standpoint. They've consistently been more competitive with a consistently lower payroll, mostly because they aren't afraid to shed themselves of aging 'stars' or at the risk of alienating a fan base. That is one thing that is kind of nice about the current stadium situation. Trading Cabrera and Willis (and improving the team) would have pissed off any other fan base, but since they don't hinge on attendance at this point, it doesn't matter, and they can make smart moves to improve the team
Moe_Syzlak
Sooooo anywho.... I head on Mike & Mike this morning that there is a possibility that if there are multiple rain-outs this weekend due to the impending noreaster, that the start of the playoffs could be delayed. I really hope this doesn't happen. I have tickets to next Thursday's game at Wrigley and I already have my plane tickets. That would totally screw me over.

Lammycat
It's like Bill Gates driving through an area with a high homeless population and saying to the homeless people "Man, it sure is nice to have a home!" Or something. It's just kind of pointless. But the BOS organization hasn't always been run as efficiently as it has been the last 5-6 years. BOS is a very well-run team (as Microsoft is a well-run company) who's success is, in large part, owed to the committment of ownership to give it's fans the best they can offer (much like Microsft does for it's company and customers). Ultimately, it's not the problem of the well-run company and/or it's customers if there are less well-run teams (homeless folks). Or something. eh.
