JasonTSmith
What is the intro music played as the band takes the stage? Is it available? Thanks It's the theme from the Bob Newhart Show, the first Bob Newhart Show, from the mid-seventies in which Bob played a Chicago psychologist. You might be able to find the original on iTunes, I think they have a TV themes collection on there somewhere, just do a search.

LouieB
Am I the only one who thinks it is kinda dumb?? Dumb, but fun I guess. LouieB
H.Stone
They didn't do it in Indy, Jackson, or Salt Lake. Did they do it at McCarren, Tanglewood, etc?
ditty
They didn't do it in Indy, Jackson, or Salt Lake. Did they do it at McCarren, Tanglewood, etc? They had the intro in Indy, it was low volume though. It's on the 2nd taper source (stage left)
H.Stone
Hmmm, I think I do vaguely remember hearing it but at low volume. Their entrance that night seemed to take most people by surprise, with a lot of audience still shuffling into the venue when they took the stage.
FastWalker
They didn't do it in Indy, Jackson, or Salt Lake. Did they do it at McCarren, Tanglewood, etc? I'm pretty sure they played it at Tanglewood
Wilco Worshipper
I'm pretty sure they played it at TanglewoodSee, and I was pretty sure they didn't. I heard it at shows last year, tho.
beniking
I'm pretty sure they played it at Tanglewood See, and I was pretty sure they didn't. I heard it at shows last year, tho. I've got the recording and they definitely come onto that music.
barnyard pimp
what was that 'marching robots' type music that opened the 2006 shows (or at least the ones i saw)?
Wilco Worshipper
I've got the recording and they definitely come onto that music.k, my bad I guess it wasn't as NOTICEABLE as last year.
theashtraysays
Apparently you were too busy texting? (BTW, I noticed in Indy that the crowd didn't erupt when it started, which I thought was kinda weird).
chezdan9
I get the Chicago connection, but I thought it made for a weird/disjointed transition to "Either Way" (at Tanglewood)
beniking
I remember a few years back they played the Midnight Special music on kazoos or something like that, it was pretty sweet
barnyard pimp
IS that what I'm referring to above as the 'marching robots' music?
Wendy
I'm not sure what you mean by marching robots, but Wilco also used to play this before shows: The Four Horsemen by Aphrodite's Child

laurie
I want to hear Peaches again, but have not for a while...not as an intro, but at the end of the show.
Edie
I want to hear Peaches again, but have not for a while...not as an intro, but at the end of the show. Every time I even see peaches, I think of that song and that Sat night show
mountain bed
I've always thought some Sibelius or maybe Stravinsky would be cool for the band to walk onstage to. The Newhart theme certainly isn't the hippest thing for intro music imo.
Edie
Scott, I think I like it for precisely that reason
Saut Crapaud
they walked out to "pure imagination" from willy wonka at one of the shows i saw. i'm pretty sure it was during the AGIB tour. i have always loved that song and thought it was a perfect intro.
froggie
the willy wonker thing goes back to 2002... 'twas a good one though!
