bjorn_skurj
Yeah, but some idgits don't think we should. That's why they're idgits. I wonder how bad things have to be before peeps at least understand some things, read, absorb some internet news, etc. At least attempt to know what is going on.Worse than they are now, it would seem. Maybe when AIG goes under. Maybe when we're like Germany in the 1920s, where people had to have a wheelbarrelful of cash to buy a loaf of bread. "A six-pack of Budweiser will cost $1,200!" Party @ the Moontower
That doesn't have anything to do with the initial point, which is that when they need to, the American people are pretty good at getting it together. What did they get together exactly? They held hands...

JUDE
I do not believe if a war ever came to my doorstep I will be protected by the people, or the government period. Just an FYI, when 300 million angry Chinamen come marching through Minnesota (via Alaska-Bering Strait) I'm not going to put up much of a fight on your behalf. Just saying. Most people in the country did nothing. They went on as usual. It's not a slap in the face to those who helped, many did, many went out to eat and got drunk. Perfect example of how it takes something to be in your face before you give a damn. Most of the country went on as if nothing happened, just like they do about most things. Was I supposed to drive to NYC and NOLA and help dig people out? I think most people were sending vibes, saying prayers, etc because beyond donating money and supplies, there wasn't really anything they COULD do. I don't know of anyone who didn't give a damn. I think most people were sending vibes, saying prayers, etc because beyond donating money and supplies, there wasn't really anything they COULD do. I don't know of anyone who didn't give a damn. The area between Orange Julius and Ground Zero are vast. People were supposed to follow the lead of the government. They did. Now we have 8 million dollars worth of plastic flags from China. It would interesting to see an America that was led by community service instead of kneejerk capitalism. Oh, wait, community service is bad, I just learned from the RNC. Perhaps the federal gov't could've subisidized a volunteer program. You from Michigan, me from Missouri could've helped. We have programs like Habitat for Humanity that did a great deal of work following Katrina. Pump some money into that so citizens can be directly involved instead of relying on tax revenues to bolster our effort to strike out militarily. We should hook up and write this. I'll provide a rundown town that you can use for a battle scene. There are many in the Midwest.
