bobbob1313
Ugh, Mccain adviser actually tried to use the "we didn't have time to rehearse because we were saving America" to spin it for McCain. This is why I hate our media. Clowns like her shouldn't be allowed on TV.

watch me fall
Ugh, Mccain adviser actually tried to use the "we didn't have time to rehearse because we were saving America" to spin it for McCain. This is why I hate our media. Clowns like her shouldn't be allowed on TV. That chick had to be on crack. How dare Obama question the effectiveness of the surge when we're on the verge of victory in Iraq (smiling broadly). She definitely belonged in the Spin Room. Also, why wouldn't McCain look at Obama???

Party @ the Moontower
I still don't know. There's a long way to go. Your my hero. At your age, I was drunk and more drunk on a night like this. Good to see our future paying attention Bobbob. I'm still trying to figure out when and how the campaign was actually suspended. Hey, Palin had the monthly visitor dude. Be a little considerate. MEN!

Good Old Neon
For this voter, McCain could come across as the messiah himself, but as long as Palin is his co-pilot, there is no way in holy hell that he would ever get my vote.
Party @ the Moontower
Also, why wouldn't McCain look at Obama??? It's hard to look the future in the face... I'm female. I know, I was making a joke.

Good to see our future paying attention Bobbob Well, I just did take a shot of nyquil, so this night could get crazy yet. Stupid work in the morning. I'm out there doing my part for the economy. embiggen
I think if I hear the word "maverick" invoked one more time by McCain or Palin, I'm going to wretch violently. forever.
markosis
Man, I'm listening to Ralph Nader speak on Bill Maher's show, and it pains me that this man gets shut out by the political money making machine. Shame.
sweetheart-mine
Also, why wouldn't McCain look at Obama??? it had to be some kind of power non-move. not acknowledging obama by looking at him was one of the 7 or 8 repetitive types of disdain mccain showed tonight. i didn't know which mccain would show up, but somehow didn't expect that one. i should have, though -- it was the same tone he and his running mate and guiliani used at their convention. it was ugly, but i'm a bit dispirited by it because i think it will appeal to a lot of people. it could come across as strength, misguided though that is. all this time many of obama's detractors have been calling him arrogant and aloof, and yet the debater mccain is the one with those qualities. interesting. bobbob1313
I'll be contributing to the spin, offering my take as an undecided/independent voter for our student newspaper this week.
quarter23cd
I tuned in late, after (finally) getting the little ones to bed. I tuned in just in time for Obama's "You were wrong" attack as (evidently) the topic shifted from the economy to national security. My overall impression? Kind of a wash, honestly. This topic was McCain's home turf and this was easily the most focused-sounding he's been in a while, so props to him for that. But he also came across as condescending and bitchy, really wanting to school the "new kid" but it didn't go over so well most of the time. Obama more than held his own in this, equipped with facts, figures, names, and specifics--and it visibly irked the hell out of McCain. I don't know who "won". I have no idea how this played with the average joe, etc. My guess is McCain by a hair. Just because he came across as the reassuring old vet who's been through it all. And the fact that, for all McCain's talk about how important it is not to "lose Iraq", Obama never really pinned it on him the role he played in the way we got to this shitty point in history in the first place. McCain's got the experience, but he started to show his age the way his most emotional (if you want to call it that) moments came when he was pining for the good ol' days and kept bringing up Reagan whenever he got the chance. He came across as looking backwards, which is probably not what was needed at this point in time. All in all, though, he was more effective than his erratic behavior lately would have suggested. But if foreign policy is McCain's "turf", he needed to hit a home run tonight and he didn't. This felt like a draw. I don't expect much movement in the polls one way or another. And so here we go... The next round--the VP debate--becomes crucial. How ya think the GOP is feeling about that? And where the hell is Palin? Biden is all over the place in the commentary afterwards and the GOP sends up...Rudy? Hmm.
Duck-Billed Catechist
Ugh, Mccain adviser actually tried to use the "we didn't have time to rehearse because we were saving America" to spin it for McCain. This is why I hate our media. Clowns like her shouldn't be allowed on TV.Yeah, I really dislike that most of the "analysis" consists of giving equal time to campaign spinmeisters. It's because it's all about the scoop and in this case the scoop is how the campaigns will frame the debate.
markosis
And where the hell is Palin? Biden is all over the place in the commentary afterwards and the GOP sends up...Rudy? Hmm. markosis
I want Palin to get shredded next Thursday. I feel like such a partisan fuck head saying that, but she enrages me. The worst part is: she's just a god damn tool, a ploy, and she seems so comfortable with being used. But I don't feel sorry for her.
MrRain422
I obviously agreed with Obama more tonight, but as far as accomplishing what they needed to goes, I think it was pretty much a tie. Major LOLs at the Fox News poll that had 82% saying McCain won.
