agreed about Ribierio and Ott, they have made some terrible moves the last few years, Tom Hicks as an owner leaves a lot to be desired

I always had tremendous respect for the Stars, but their play this season has been disgusting. Modano's "maybe they should find me an office job" should open the eyes of his teammates. It's time to act like pros.

Sean Avery sure pisses me off. One of the things that makes hockey great is the professionalism in the athletes... you always hear about NFL, NBA, and MLB players doing steroids or getting charged for drugs/weapons/whatever but the NHL seems to be some what (not completely) immune to that. However, Sean Avery lacks any professionalism or class on and off the ice. It's one thing to say Jerome Iginla or Sidney Crosby are boring players but he crossed the line last night by saying something personal about other players. That doesn't belong in the league. He doesn't belong in the league.

But Avery isn't tough. He's a cheap gimmicky player.

Like Matt Cooke, except Cooke is a really great guy off the ice.

He must be a total cancer in the room. His teammates, coach and even GM (hell, Brett Hull LIVED with the guy in Detroit) are distancing.

You have to be a major asshole to have your entire Organ I zation hate you after two months.

The chemistry of a team that was in the Western Confernece finals last year has been TOTALLY destroyed.

THURSDAY! MATS WILL MAKE A DECISION! Suspiciously one day after Trevor Lindens retirement ceremony... hmmm. Apparently Sundin's agent and Canuck's GM Mike Gillis have met TWICE in the past 48 hours... hmmm. Last Saturday the Canucks finished their longest road trip and finished the hardest part of the season (travel wise), which apparently was a concern to Mats Sundin... hmmmmmm.

And yes, this thread needs more life.

Nope, JP shot those rumours down.

Though NYR has a long history of screwing Van over. The 94 playoffs, sending us Messier, we almost had Gretzky but they plucked him, and signing Naslund. Which wasn't a bad thing, but some would disagree with me.

Sundin's a geezer, and he's not going to tip the scales towards Cup winner for either of those teams.

He'll retire Cupless.

I disagree, I think Sundin with either of those teams has a decent shot at the cup. NYR has it a bit easier, VAN has to get past the San Jose and Detroit, but it's possible. San Jose, in my opinion, isn't as good as they seem, they're just peaking early, rather then in the playoffs. Sundin is a big (6 foot 6) physical presence, who can net you 50 points for the rest of this season. In my opinion, and maybe I am biased, but I think Vancouver with Sundin is a better team then the Rangers with Sundin. The Rangers should have been trying to improve their blue line not their offense. Vancouver has the best goalie, top-5 in the league defense, a great fourth line (Hordichuk trains with Chuck Liddel in the summer, Ryan Johnson led the league in blocked shots), and in my opinion on of the best 2-way lines in the league with Kesler and Burrows. The only major whole in the team seems to be in the top-6, they need some consistent scoring besides the Sedins.

[/end rant]

Shanahan will probably get signed by a team after Sundin signs. I imagine there will be a few trades in the next few weeks, regardless of what his decision is.

I think the Rangers blue line is fine - Girardi seems to be taking off, although he IS cooling off after a hot start to the year. They have one of the best goalies in the East, which is huge. The East seems more wide open. In my eyes there's not a dominant team. Montreal seems to be cooling off, and Phillly and Washington are getting hot. And then there's Boston, who've been great all year so far...

In the West, the Sharks are definitely the cream of the crop, but they always disappear in the playoffs. Detroit's goalie woes don't seem to be too serious, yet... They have never been out of a game this year. The Nucks have been a .500 team without Luongo. And I'm not sure how good the Ducks are. Seems that they should be better than they are.

I just don't see either the Nucks or the Rangers one player away from seriously threatening for the Cup. I think Sundin would be better served by joining a team like the Blackhawks. I think they're better and closer to the Cup than either the Nucks or Rangers. They'd have to dump the Bulin Wall though...

Here's my feelings about the Sharks: they will fizzle. They're hot now, they're cocky now (Roenick says the refs are working against the Sharks "to keep the standings interesting"). They don't have great playoff history, and I have a feeling they'll pull a 18-1 Pats...empty the tank too early.

New York's decent, but they're not great. They had a light schedule early and have played more games than any other team in the league, that's why they're so high in the standings.

Detroit is solid, but not unbeatable.

Vancouver is my vote in the West, they're backup has been holding them together pretty well, add Sundin and you've got a great team.

However, in the East things are a bit different. Boston is the team to beat (FINALLY!), the Habs are slumping, slashing, diving, and whining around (they're fans actually booed them after their last loss!), Flyers are good but their hot streak won't last. Besides Boston, I'm seeing Washington and Montreal (if they pick up their game) as a good threat, New York and Philadelphia as mediocre threats.

I don't wanna jinx anything...but damn the Bruins look good.

WHO CALLED IT?!?! THE DOCTOR DID, YEP THAT'S RIGHT.

Woooo.. what a great 1-2 punch. Last night, a beautiful ceremony for Trevor Linden, tonight Mats signs with the Canucks.

This is the first time since the days of Moog/Lemelin where the B's can change goalies in between periods and not lose confidence. Amazing.

But the Bruins defense in the second period was awful. To Toronto's credit, they battle every shift.

If there's any good we can take out of this, it's that this is the most goals allowed by the Bruins all season...good in the big picture, not for the game though.

I love that I can complain about winning!
