poppydawn
Good choice! I read it a few months ago and eventually want to reread it. It's too soon, but I'm looking forward to the discussion.

turtlegirl37
It's like a 4 month wait for this from my library, but amazon has it for 8 something. Ordering....
Preferred B
I also read this a few months ago and look forward to the discussion.
mpolak21
Wonderful, wonderful book. I can't recommend it highly enough, and half of the sci-fi and comic book references flew right over my head. Certainly worth checking out. I'll keep an eye on this thread. --Mike

Ordering....I put in my request at the library about a month ago, and I'm now #5 on the waiting list (for 70 copies).
Three dollars and 63 cents
The single copy our college library has is available. Hopefully it will still be there when I go to work on Monday. I'll probably finish the book I'm reading right now within the next week, so I should have plenty of time to keep up with reading this time around.
Three dollars and 63 cents
I checked this out of the campus library today. I get it for a month, so hopefully that will be enough time to read it. I'm hoping to start it tomorrow or the next night, after I finish Fargo Rock City
caliber66
I read this a couple months ago, but I don't know where it is now.

gogo
Less than two weeks to go! If you haven't started reading yet, tonight seems like a nice quiet night to curl up with a good book. The library is holding my copy for me, so as soon as I get over there to pick it up, I'm all set. My library has great timing.

Mystik Spiral
Me too! I gotta get crackin'. I adopted a kitten last week and she's been distracting me... Â Â Â She's just a little spoiled...
Three dollars and 63 cents
Can we have one more week? I'm really enjoying what I've read so far, but I still have a ways to go and would really like to be able to participate in discussion this time. Most of my time lately has been with student papers. gogo
Yeah, I was just popping in to say, I've finished the book, but will not be around enough today to start discussing, and will probably be too distracted until at least Wednesday morning. Â So if anyone else wants to start chatting about the book, I'm not going to stop you, but otherwise I'm calling an unofficial delay of the official start (or something like that ) until later in the week. la*
I just listened to this podcast from NPR's Book Tour featuring Diaz doing a reading from The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao last month in DC. It's sort of long (I'd advise you stop listening when the audience questions begin. Or maybe it's just that I have a very low tolerance for questions from the audience) but it's great to hear him talk and read. Voila
jimmyjimmy
Can we have one more week? I have not even started this yet. TODAY!
mfwahl
I can't wait for this to get started. I read this over the summer and absolutely love it. I'll have to skim some pages so that I'm not totally lost.
