VC Book Club: The Brief, Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

Recommended Posts

Good choice! I read it a few months ago and eventually want to reread it. It's too soon, but I'm looking forward to the discussion.

It's like a 4 month wait for this from my library, but amazon has it for 8 something. Ordering....

I put in my request at the library about a month ago, and I'm now #5 on the waiting list (for 70 copies). :dancing

Less than two weeks to go! If you haven't started reading yet, tonight seems like a nice quiet night to curl up with a good book.

The library is holding my copy for me, so as soon as I get over there to pick it up, I'm all set. My library has great timing. :yes

Yeah, I was just popping in to say, I've finished the book, but will not be around enough today to start discussing, and will probably be too distracted until at least Wednesday morning. :nailbite

So if anyone else wants to start chatting about the book, I'm not going to stop you, but otherwise I'm calling an unofficial delay of the official start (or something like that :lol) until later in the week. :wave

I'm down with that.

I just listened to this podcast from NPR's Book Tour featuring Diaz doing a reading from The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao last month in DC. It's sort of long (I'd advise you stop listening when the audience questions begin. Or maybe it's just that I have a very low tolerance for questions from the audience) but it's great to hear him talk and read.

Voila

Laura, I haven't had a chance to listen to this yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Thanks!
