mountain bed
So, last week we got a solicitation from a drug testing outfit. We've gotten these before, but now their selling point is that if you need to get rid of some employees, use their service. They even guarantee it. Crazy stuff.Did you tell them to shove it? Guest Speed Racer
Did you tell them to shove it? With fewer employers seeking new hires, can you imagine how their business must be hurting? Not excusing, but they kinda have to stay in business too. A job as a lab tech at a UA company is a job as a lab tech. HR? Accounting? You have to find a marketing angle where you can. We have an ambulance-chasing firm across the hall from us, and every now and again I'll walk into the ladies' room during a UA - the woman peeing, the person doing the test, two attorneys and at least one paralegal. Nice.

Guest Speed Racer
These paragraphs read like two people arguing. I've stopped waiting for someone to bitch me out, and save you all a post. No, it was just an "On the topic of piss tests..." because really, how frequently will I get to bust out that story?
Sir Stewart
It must've been pretty wild to see that.
mountain bed
Best line of the day goes to HRC after taking the oath from Joe The VP. After thanking Mom and Chelsea we got this: "And to my husband, who has given me a lifetime of.....(VERY pregnant pause)...all kinds of experiences. Ha ha!" Damn, that was awesomely funny. Guest Jules
Where do we send our resumes?Sorry, not hiring. I agree with Speed Racer, though, whatever they have to do to keep their business going, more power to them. I just thought it was interesting. On another note, Daschle apparently asked Obama to withdraw his nomination. Why don't people just pay their fucking taxes? It's really not that hard.

Guest Jules
I don't like it either; the tax laws and requirements are a friggin racket, but you don't have much choice in the matter.
kwall
I think the government should pay for me to go back to school, but my "lack of financial need" is kind of standing in the way. Apparently we're supposed to use our emergency savings and our retirement accounts to pay for school. Kind of an incentive to be irresponsible with our money, I'd say.being irresponsible with other people's money is much better.
LouieB
Paying taxes on a gift is probably more difficult than it seems, considering Daschle owed 140 grand. That's alot of free ridin' LouieB
Moe_Syzlak
Why don't people just pay their fucking taxes? It's really not that hard.Just filed mine this morning! I hope that Obama can really do his line-by-line analysis and get rid of programs that don't work (of course, we all know that one person's wasteful spending is another's essential program, so i see that as unlikely unfortunately), but I have no problem paying taxes for the infrastructure we enjoy in the U.S.
MattZ
Man, here's what I know about the entire appointment process: much of the drama is media driven. It is virtually impossible to find someone anywhere without a gotcha moment somewhere in their life. But Richardon, Daschle and Geithner? Holder signing off on the Rich pardon? The new commerce secretary calling for the department's abolition (according to drudge)? Could this be going any worse? Welcome to Washington, President Obama.

Each peice of legislation and the connected appropriation is part of a complex system of lobbying, setting up programs different interest groups want and governmental inertia. As a member of the fine governmental bureaucracy everyone hates, I can tell you this is way easier said than done to dump a program and save money. What would anyone like to do without?? the Military, the social security system, welfare, roads, education, pork for your local district, your favorite charity, your church, your city, your mother, your disabled friend or family member, etc. Not so simple. Lammycat
What about him?I asked a day or two ago what the deal is on him. I had heard rumor that he had mob connections and wanted to know if this is a complete falsehood or has a glint of truth to it. He's also ill-equipped for the job, from what I gather. Any word on that, too?

Any word on that, too? I did a search on him after you had posted that, but couldn't find anything. Do you have any links? And, no wonder Dems like raising taxes so much. They don't have to worry about paying them (unless they want a Cabinet post, I guess).
