mfwahl
On April 7, everyone's favorite drunkenly literate rockers The Hold Steady will release A Positive Rage, a 2-in-1 live album and DVD documentary, via Vagrant Records. The documentary follows the band through the release of its third full-length, Boys and Girls in America, and the world tour ensuing. It traces the group from its first London shows through back stage interviews, fan commentary and original audio. The live album was recorded on Oct. 31, 2007. It features 17 songs performed at the Metro in Chicago. And that's not all the dudes have planned for 2009. In February, they'll fly off on an international tour, culminating in May when they'll support Counting Crows. Tracklisting:1. "Intro"2. "Stuck Between Stations"3. "The Swish"4. "Chips Ahoy!"5. "Massive Nights"6. "Ask Her For Adderall"7. "Barfruit Blues"8. "Same Kooks"9. "You Gotta Dance (With Who You Came With)"10. "Lord, I'm Discouraged"11. "You Can Make Him Like You"12. "Your Little Hoodrat Friend"13. "Southtown Girls"14. "Citrus"15. "First Night"16. "Girls Like Status"17. "Killer Parities"

mfwahl
i downloaded two songs...so far so good...i'm gonna take it slow. I was the same way. First time I heard them I didn't like it much. The next time I put one of their discs on (their latest one) I listened to it twice in a row. Go figure.
Mrs. Peel
It's funny how that happens. Almost everyone I know (including me) couldn't get into them at first and then had an epiphany somewhere down the road.

bsr8j
It's funny how that happens. Almost everyone I know (including me) couldn't get into them at first and then had an epiphany somewhere down the road. It was the exact same way for me. I heard something off of Boys and Girls in America and couldn't figure out what anyone saw in them. A year or so went by and I listened again and couldn't figure out what I had been thinking a year earlier. I proceeded to buy all the albums in about four weeks. Vacant Horizon
I've kinda come full circle on them; didn't much care, listened again, LOVEDLOVEDLOVED, now back to kind of indifferent. tried, not working. sounds too much like 90s neoska without horns. you can tell they right songs with phrases specifically crafted to be screamed out by the drunken audience.
