bsr8j
The folks who were at the Drive-By Truckers show at the 930 Club got a real treat. Patterson was too ill to play (he had passed out at the previous show in SC) but the band still played. It looked like an amazing set list. My wife and I are going to tonight's show and I am secretly (or not so much anymore) hoping Patterson sits out tonight as well, just so we can get an all Cooley (with a sprinkling of Shonna) show. Here's hoping someone taped last night's show. Rusty Shackleford
It sounds like Patterson is out tonight as well. I'm going tonight--my first DBT show. I'm still hoping Patterson pulls a Willis Reed and shows up for the encore--I really want to hear Let There Be Rock--but I'll settle for an evening with Mr. Cooley. John Smith
Cooley has always been the DBT singer that resonated most with me. This show is f&%#ing amazing.
Wendy
You can always see DBT with the full band another day, but you don't get many chances to see an all-Cooley all night long show! Actually, with the exception of PH being sick, this is fantastic!

Rusty Shackleford
That show was awesome. They played past 1 am, I didn't get home til almost 2, and I was still so wound up I couldn't sleep. If that was DBT minus one, I can't wait to see what a "full band" show is like.
Maggie
Wow. Patterson is great, but I'd kill to see one of these shows. Just rubs in the fact that my only DBT show was an hour and a half set opening for the Hold Steady (a band I do not enjoy).

When they broke out "Rockin' in the Free World" during the encore the place went nuts. We knew we were in for a great show when they opened with "Zip City." That sets a high standard for the rest of the night. The thunderous intro for "Homefield Advantage" was also great. Cooley is a great front man.
Wendy
www.pastemagazine.com The Rockin' Pneumonia: Drive-By Truckers soldier on with Patterson Hood temporarily out sick When Drive-By Truckers' frontman Patterson Hood walked into the Music Farm in Charleston, S.C., thursday afternoon, he'd just risen from an 18-hour slumber. And he still felt like hell. "I don't know what it is," he told me, "I can't seem to shake this thing. I'll start to feel better and then the next day, I feel like shit again. It's been like this for three weeks now

tangara
At first I was bummed when I heard about this; I'm seeing them Wednesday in Milwaukee and the thought of a Pattersonless DBT show just doesn't sit right. But after seeing those setlists...man, sounds like it could be a good time! I still hope Patterson feels better, of course...walking pneumonia, yipes.

miss jayne
I'm so happy that DBC got to come to the rock show. What an amazing opportunity for the fans and the band without Patterson. You folks probably have read the 9 Bullets thread on these shows. My favorite quota from over there : "I also loved the way Shonna kept pouring booze on the carpet for Patterson, like you do for the santos." Quite frankly I think that its great that they are taking the time off, as I doubt Cooley's voice, or his liver would have held for another 4 nights. What a guy.
