DawgSong
WOW, she gets me everytime.EVERYTIME. She once again gladly accepted my bouquet of flowers but didn't show up to my hotel room. Oh well, I will still always put the room number on her card. Buick 6 again threw the HEAT as the opener. 1 I Just Wanted to See You So Bad2 Can't Let Go3 Happy Woman Blues4 Crescent City5 Circles & X's6 Pineola7 Drunken Angel8 Side of the Road9 Everything Has Changed10 Something About What Happens When We Talk11 Lake Charles12 I Lost It13 Joy14 Tears of Joy15 Real Love16 Changed the Locks17 Come On18 Essence19 Honey Bee20 Righteously Encore 1__________________________________________________________21 Motherless Children [with an emphasis on the Macon, GA residence of Blind Pearlie Brown She said that, while living in Macon, GA as a child ("in the early 60's" was the time frame she gave), her father took her to see Blind Pearly Brown sing. nodep5
Not to bring your buzz down, but I have seen Lucinda once, I think it was around the time of her Essence or World Without Tears tours. I left thinking that she is just one of those musicians better left to listen to on record. She struck me as completely uncomfortable (deer in headlights) She had a music stand with her lyric book beside her on stage that she stared at all night. (Which I found especially odd during songs like Lonely Girls which only have so many words anyway) Anyways, I'm just surprised at what you had to say. I guess I'm wondering if she should be given another try in a live setting?

DawgSong
Most of what we can see live on YouTube sounds pretty bad to me. Except this: To my ears that sounds beautiful, rough and edgy. She has always used a stand for lyrics and she may glance at times to the lyrics. No biggie to me, and has become a pretty decent guitar playing and the band canflat toss some nasty riffs at ya face. It's just good ol' ROCK n ROLL.

DawgSong
Doug Pettibone? YeP, Doug has been an original member of Buick 6 and thus Lu's bands of late but prior to this tourhe joined another band which I can't recall. Doug is a great string playa.
Littlebear
No, no, I meant the lead guitar player from the video I linked above... (the one on the right with the glasses) OK, I found it, he's called Kenny Vaughan. Listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOUL7Vi02ew
miss jayne
Lucinda is wonderful. She is authentic, true to herself, and brings it most nights I have seen her. Once, at the Fillmore, she was super late and cranky. Quite frankly, even on that rough night, she brought tears to my eyes several times. I think she will go down as one of the best songwriters of our time. Love her. Glad she is still out there making it happen. As to the songbook...too many songs to remember all the lyrics, I think. Oil Can Boyd
The New York Times magazine had an interesting piece on Lucinda and her house.
Analogman
Most self-referential possession: I have a photo of me. It was in Rolling Stone. I am sitting on top of watermelons. At the time I thought it was going to be really dumb-looking, but it turned out great, which is why I like it now. A link to one of the photos.

W(TF)
I actually wish she wouldnt bother trying to rock out. Her sad songs and ballads are superb...Side of the Road, Greenville, Blue, Minneapolis and others can reduce me to tears. And I dont cry much. LW is a great writer and I like how she pulls off the stretching of her vocal limitations-- like on Blue. Very imperfect but still beautiful. She is notoriously obsessive though, which I guess doesnt help her in live performance.

wilceaux
I actually wish she wouldnt bother trying to rock out. Changed The Locks and Joy are 2 of the best songs she has ever written.
Littlebear
I like "Joy" but never could stand "Changed the Locks" much. It's probably my least favorite song from her self-titled album.
