Me likey. This cover is hilarious and I love it. I think I'm going to marry this cover. We will live happily ever after in a world where not everything has to be Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

That's an awful cover, I hope the tunes inside it are better. That Wilco Song was pish though.

IT'S A CAMEL WITH A HAT ON NEXT TO A PARTY CAKE!

So what? It still doesn't make it good. It's a terrible cover but you never know the music might make up for it. I liked the birdies on the last cover but the music eventually bored me, so you never know. The new Manics album has great artwork but I am betting the music is still as shitty and in love with itself as ever. So,like I say... you never know.

Spencer appears to have more sense in him than 70% of the people on the VC.

unless he's talking about comments that are obnoxiously in favour of the cover as well as obnoxiously against it, then - no, i'd say he's just like most people. plus, it's not actually normal to think anything your dad does is cool - whether it is or not - it just goes against the natural run of things. you have to be very warey of kids like that.

Are you kidding? I sure as hell hope so. My son and my stepson think their dad is pretty fucking cool, likely because he is.

And another perfectly good thread is deduced to side debates on the merits of spencer tweedy's admiration for his father/father's band's album's cover... :punch

P.S.

I think my dad is pretty cool. Just maybe not in the sense that another person my age would.

Yeah, but his dad's a rock star. I would think that would be pretty cool.

a ) If your dad is cool, then you're likely cool too, meaning you don't give a piece of shit whether people think you're an idiot for thinking your dad is cool - making you even cooler.

b ) If your dad is uncool, then you are mortified for a period, until you realize you're just as uncool; your scorn transforms through the five stages of grief until you come to acceptance - at which point your caterpillar of a relationship has cocooned and thus harvested into something decidedly cool.

Succinctly, you're likely somewhere in the middle of B?

your dad being cool or uncool does not influence your liking for the man, you can have a perfectly healthy relationship with them still. :pirate

anyway - jeff tweedy's not cool, let's get back to reality.

It's official... I'm actually jelous of a camel, and not only because they can hold vast amounts of water...

but I love the cover. and no offense to all of you who are searching for some deeper meaning to the picture: but stop. I think that they just want it to be a funny and eye catching album cover, which it defiantly is. June 30 needs to hurry up and get here...

Milwaukee debates where Wilco put the camel

Yes, the new album cover's setting is no Marina Towers, but where is it? Milwaukeans have quickly identified the dromedary as hanging out in their hometown. Jeff Sherman at On Milwaukee.com reports:

The band's latest release features a Milwaukee cover shot on Old World Third Street. The photo, of a balcony, features a camel, tables and Mader's restaurant in the background. By looking at the image, it seems to have been shot at the building that houses Wisconsin Cheese Mart and Usinger's Famous Sausage, steps from Turner Hall Ballroom, a sister venue to the Pabst Theater where the band recently played.

In addition, the owners of Wisconsin Cheese Mart tell me this, "Wilco also photographed images of the band inside the Wisconsin Cheese Mart, alongside mannequins dressed in elaborate Elvis-like costumes. It was very cool. The band was awesome."

Awesome is the correct word. Commenters at ExpressMilwaukee.com note the cover's font mimics Mader's as well. But a balcony? How did Wilco get a camel on a balcony? Did they put it in an elevator? Did they push it up a set of stairs? The Wilco mind reels! But a commenter at OnMilwaukee disputes the balcony: "Actually it appears the photo was taken from the sidewalk on Highland Ave. looking south at the side of Mader's. You can see the parking lot behind the fence and gate."

The Journal-Sentinel's Hubbub blog confirms the comment. Photos came on the street and in a parking lot, according to those who passed by.

That's according to eye witness Melinda Caughill, whose office is on West Highland Avenue. She would have been more excited
