choo-choo-charlie
just to add a note on the 10-30-1997 show (which i was listening to this afternoon in the car on my lunch break), there is some jaw-dropping banter from tweedy in the show. for example, bob egan was running his lap steel & pedal steel through some effects pedals and had come up with a sound that tweedy clearly didn't care for: "bob? what's that pedal? make that sound again...[egan plays a few licks] >> ok, yeah. don't ever do that again. not in wilco. you can give that to whiskeytown. how much did that cost? $400? ok, you'll probably get that back. just don't use it in wilco anymore...consider this our fragile way of saying you probably won't be with us next year." and then another dig at ryan adams and whiskeytown: "i notice that some of you are dressed up for halloween tonight. i also have on a costume. i'm ryan adams from whiskeytown. [tweedy starts singing/mocking whiskeytown tune 'excuse me while i break my own heart tonight'] 'excuse me...while i break my own wind tonight..." WOW!

Analogman
Now that I do not know. I have never heard any of Jay's solo work. I am sure someone around here will know though.
joshead
This could be a painfully naive response but, is it Courtesy Move? Did they ever play a live show together? Speaking of which, it would be awesome if someone would release that Courtesy Move album.

Central Scrutinizer
*7-25-1999Jeff on guitar and Jay on guitar, keyboards, mandolin, playing mostly Summerteeth & Mermaid Avenue tracks, including the first time "Blood of the Lamb" was done live. Also amazing versions of "Down in the Willow Garden" and "The Auld Triangle." Funny hearing Jay's keyboard bubbling w/weird effects on some tunes, considering it was a folk festival. Good banter from Tweedy.I've been listening to this one and it's awesome. I love Casino Queen-meets-Tombstone Blues.
Dreamin'
the July (29, 30, & 31) 2000 run @ the Fillmore, are must have showsI saw them in Vancouver just a few days before the Fillmore run. Great show. Pretty sure it wasn't recorded, unfortunately.
choo-choo-charlie
hearing all of these old shows w/jay bennett has been a real treat (and will continue to be) in the last few weeks. what about a post/thread about the best post-bennett shows? there's so much stuff on Owl & Bear (thanks guys) and some of it is stellar, and some recordings aren't very good - a lot to sift through. any comments? Any of the recordings marked SBD are going to be excellent quality. My favorites of the post-Bennett that Owl has are the 11/28/2001 Seattle, 5/26/2002 Amsterdam, 8/31/2002 Vancouver show, 10/29/2002 Nashville, 11/2/2002 Tampa and 9/4/2003 Eugene the 9/19 and 9/20 Chicago shows are essential as well. My favorite Nels and Pat era boot is probably 3/14/2005 in London. I don't have a lot of the SBS tour boots, but the any of the residency shows from February 2008 and the May 2008 St. Louis run webstreams are great. --Mike

Col. Hapablap
That is not always true. That's a good point. A few of the early Wilco soundboards are a little ragged, but its still generally true.
