magcat
Just in from the night 2 of the Wiltern stand. Highlight of the show for me was the one-two punch of "Nothingsevergonnastandinmyway" and "Heavy Metal Drummer". Also "Poor Places" followed by "Reservations" was quite nice. Someone with either a photographic memory or a setlist will hopefully post the whole list soon. I had a better time at the Pomona show. Even though I was considerably closer to the stage tonight, the Pomona show felt more intimate. Also, the crowd at Pomona was a lot cooler. In general the crowd tonight was kind of "Young Hollywood". I had particularly bad neighbors -- too much perfume, elbowing their way in front of me, applying lip gloss between songs (!?), etc. Didn't seem to know any of the new songs. In any case they still put on an excellent show. A little more polished, not as kinetic feeling. Jeff was funny on stage all night, imploring the audience to buy programs, Glenn-Kotche wristbands, and, eventually, eyepatches from the merchandise booth. At one point he tried to address the crowd as "Los Angelites... Los Angeleans?" and the crowd roared "Angelenos!" which was pretty funny. Set list felt more quirky than Pomona, which was good. (They didn't play "Wilco (The Song)" until 3rd, in favor of starting with "Via Chicago", to give some idea how they were mixing it up.). And I got to hear "The Late Greats." Also apparently Jeff's wife was in attendance, as he dedicated two songs to her. That was cool. They closed with a fantastic, rowdy "I'm a Wheel." I'll post a couple of photos shortly. I'd agree with you on all fronts. Wilco put on a solid show, but the LA crowd last night was a little annoying. The people around me were texting/emailing on their iPhones during the show... distracting as hell. Set list felt more quirky than Pomona, which was good. (They didn't play "Wilco (The Song)" until 3rd, in favor of starting with "Via Chicago", to give some idea how they were mixing it up.). And I got to hear "The Late Greats." I never tire of how Glenn & the band just go nuts while Jeff calmly strums away. And I was praying we'd get a rowdy I'm a Wheel at some point... thrilled that they ended the show with it. westlakesteve
I was there and it was a very good show. No Tweedyspeak until about half way through the set. The music spoke for itself. The setlist was great. They are so tight. The first encore was amazing, as was Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway (Again) and Magazine Called Sunset. I enjoyed Side With The Seeds and my favorite new song live was probably Deeper Down. The low spot was Jesus, but that's never been a favorite of mine. Wilco (The Band) is great! Moonstone
It was amazing...I haven't seen them in almost 2 years and they still blew me away.....Thank you, Wilco! Setlist was just too perfect for me.... started with via Chicago just set them right in! The sequence of Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(again)-->Heavy Metal Drummer-->A Magazine Called Sunset just fxcking awesome!! And the first encore, with the Poor Places followed by Reservation and then Spider (kidsmoke)....oh, how can you ask for more? They made me feel that I was in another planet.... I was in the Mezzanine, and the audience around me were very nice. Everybody seemed really enjoyed. There were a lot of (quiet) sing along. I was hoping for more standing and dancing, but well....couldn't ask too much in the mezzanine I guess... Can't wait for the 3rd night!!
mikechuck
My third show on the tour, and a great one - even if the crowd was full of d-bag hollywood types. My request got played! (Forget the Flowers)

zebra
This crowd at this show was exceptionally more energized than Tucson. Yes, there were a few youngsters around me (like teens), but that didn't bother me. I was lucky enough to get into the pit and get real close. Photos and video up later. I was hoping to sneak into the pit tonight, and have been trying to track down what the process is. Are they handing out wristbands before the show? What time do they start doing line ups? This will be my first Wiltern show of the run, but the Pomona Fox show rocked. Anyway, appreciate any tips for getting down close. Thanks!
kidsmoke
The trick is to get there quite early...say, 4 pm.
vacuuMan
The trick is to get there quite early...say, 4 pm. ugh, i've lined up early for other shows at the wiltern, like mmj, but never so early. anyone know what the latest time to lineup is and still get wristbands? can't leave work for another couple hours
ih8music
ugh, i've lined up early for other shows at the wiltern, like mmj, but never so early. anyone know what the latest time to lineup is and still get wristbands? can't leave work for another couple hours I got in line around 5:45 on Tuesday and could have easily been in the pit - I instead chose front row center on the 1st platform (a much better location IMO, since it puts you at about eye level w/ the band, and only 30 ft or so away from the stage.) tip - if you get there early and decide to not go to the pit, enter the theater thru the doors farthest away from you as you approach from the lobby. the 1st door/aisle fills up with people waiting to get into the pit, but the other aisles are wide open and give you full access to the rest of the floor. zebra
I also got in line at about 5:45 and was right in front of the phone store. In order to get a wristband, you enter the venue and walk straight into the pit. Don't look at the merch, etc. One thing I can't stand is people who are out of the line for like an hour and then just walk up by their friends and act like the other people who were standing behind them do not matter. This really got to me that night. I can understand running to the CVS to get a drink or over to the hot dog lady, but wandering around, come on!
ThisIsNowhere
I am so disappointed, I was visiting LA and left on the 22nd. Right before they played their first show there.
