tinnitus photography
another great artist of the '90s (but sadly overlooked for the most part...his biggest hit was when Mary Lou Lord covered 'Lights are Changing') The Bevis Frond

Mr. Heartbreak
What about Royal Trux? I'd imagine they have some fans on this board...
Lojak
Maybe I missed it but no one seems to have mentioned the band that first leapt to mind for me. Fugazi had a run of great albums in the 1990s that pretty much spanned the decade. They would likely top my list as best band of the 1990s. Nirvana may have been a more transformative band due to their huge popularity but their career was cut short only partway through the decade. 13 Songs (1990)Repeater (1990)Steady Diet of Nothing (1991)In on the Kill Taker (1993)Red Medicine (1995)End Hits (1998)The Argument (2001)
Calexico
Nobody mention Ned's Atomic Dustbin yet? For shame! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ned's_Atomic_Dustbin
tinnitus photography
What about Royal Trux? I'd imagine they have some fans on this board... they are too uneven for me, though _Cats and Dogs_ is a great record.
m_thomp
Just called the police to inform them that Grandaddy were missing from this thread. They're looking into it. PS: I know some of their best doesn't fall neatly into the 90s, but still.
