Scalzunfield
Pretty sad, although can't say I remember seeing any of her movies, but...full cardiac arrest at 32 though? Isn't that a little strange? She always looked horribly thin too so I kind of wonder if there wasn't some other underlying problem for her in all of this as well. Guest Speed Racer
Sources are now reporting she experienced flu-like symptoms for several days before her death. SNL/Hulu also pulled videos of the December 5 "Weekend Update" sketch where a cast member depicts Murphy as profoundly disoriented and convinced she's hosting the episode. Moss
I liked her but I never thought she looked particularly healthy. I wonder if it was some sort of congenital thing? Or heart Virus? I hate to always jump to the drugs thing. Very sad, though, someone so young.
pillowy star
I hate to always jump to the drugs thing. But in the end it almost always is, so it's only healthy to jump to that conclusion. And at least over here in Germany the reports are clear that they found prescription drugs, and that her husband had a cardiac arrest only in October due to weird, never fully resolved circumstances. Not that I knew her or anything, I had to google the name and still can't think of ever having heard of her before today. Very sad, though, someone so young.Yes indeed, my condolences to her parents. gogo
I can see why people would suspect drugs, I thought it might be due to the fact that she was so very thin (anorexics often have heart problems). But remember, our own lovely Natalie died of a virus that attacked her heart after having had the flu. It's not necessarily anything that could have been avoided. She was so cute in Clueless. Guest Speed Racer
But in the end it almost always is, so it's only healthy to jump to that conclusion. I wouldn't say it's healthy, but it is indeed common. And at least over here in Germany the reports are clear that they found prescription drugs, and that her husband had a cardiac arrest only in October due to weird, never fully resolved circumstances. I can think of at least 15 prescription drugs that don't get you high or kill you. Just because they confiscated them does not mean she was abusing any of them. It could be that she died of a drug interaction from two or more otherwise benign medications that experienced a fatal interaction.

u2roolz
I wanted to come on here yesterday with my thoughts on this matter, but I didn't want to come across as "Perez Hilton"ish. But I don't see anyone mentioning the "incident' that caused SNL to do the brief spoof. Anyways, my best friend was over 2 Saturdays ago to watch SNL and do take out. Just like old times. When it got to the Brittany Muprhy skit we were laughing and surprised in a "where-has-she-been" type of way. He asked me if I had heard about the story that spawned the skit. I told him that I never heard of it. (i tend to frequent a lot of movie sites to find out what gets greenlit etc.)Once he left I looked it up online. Of course, the source was Hollywood Gossip. Brittany Murphy "Fired" from film. (Edit: looking for more reputable news sources I came across only Murphy's reps claiming that this story was "not true".) To sum it up: She was fired from the set of her latest film shooting in Puerto Rico for "erratic behavior" and the crew couldn't stand to work with her anymore. They also reported that she wanted to "sabotage the film" in revenge. This was also in the SNL spoof. Apparently her husband got into a fight with the locals before they left. At the time I kind of believed it. Why would someone make something like this up? It's not about a Megan Fox or the other current actresses. It could be the actual movie looking to get free press? Hollyweird right?! Anyways, it slipped my mind until yesterday. Then I thought about Murphy on Friday night when Abby Elliot (she did Murphy on SNL) was on Jimmy Fallon. She did her spot on impressions of Drew Barrymore, Anna Faris, and Kirsten Dunst (another actress who you suddenly never hear anything about). I was surprised that Fallon didn't ask for a Murphy impression. Yesterday I was on Facebook in between shoveling. An actress friend had just posted about "Murphy's family must be devastated". I thought oh she finally sabotaged the film and she got arrested. I was completely surprised, shocked and saddened by the news. But f^%cking TMZ was once again the 1st site to post the news. I waited for more established news outlets to break the news and then I came across something interesting. I guess she had diabetes. Then I saw the story mentioned on here about the "flu like symptoms". Obviously, none of this is anyone's business. But it does beg suspicion if a young woman of 32 dies suddenly in the way that she did. If there were drugs behind it, then I hope that it will open more eyes to the dangers of drug abuse. Sometimes it takes a celeb death to open a younger persons' eyes. For the record I still haven't seen Clueless. My favorite movie that she did was The Dead Girl (i'm being honest). It's an interweaving story revolving around the death of a young woman played by Murphy. Great cast, script and director Karen Moncrieff (she also did Blue Car). Ok, this has gone on long enough. Just had to share my weird story. R.I.P. Brittany
