nalafej
Soundgarden was never big on touring. I'm guessing they are doing at least 3 of the big US festivals this year. Maybe some Europe ones as well? What do you all think?
solace
This song to me shows why Soundgarden was great. easily one of their best.
bjorn_skurj
They should do a tour with Alice in Chains and Mudhoney. That new Alice album is actually pretty good.
Moss
That new Alice album is actually pretty good. I have heard such mixed reviews on that album. I just need to give it a listen I guess.
solace
it has one good song on it (Check My Brain), but for the most part it sounds like they're completely stuck in 1993
Analogman
That new Alice album is actually pretty good. I don't think it is something I would buy, but I have heard it. When I want to hear some sort of metal, much like everything else I listen to, I prefer the old stuff. Since this thread was made, I have been listening to some Soundgarden songs, and realized why I never really got into them. I don't really care for the band.
PopTodd
I have a friend who used to play drums with Kim in his old band back here in Chicago. And I've tried to like them, believe me, I've tried; I just don't. Still, it's good news for their fans.
Dmada
well this could be a good thing as SG was a great bandbut if they just go out and play festivals in a money grab, I want no part of it. If they are content to play their music in medium sized venues at reasonable prices, then I am fully on board.AS far as RNR HOF goes, SG has a long way to go.
tinnitus photography
They should do a tour with Alice in Chains and Mudhoney. they should do a tour w/ Mudhoney, TAD, Melvins and Screaming Trees.

Analogman
they should do a tour w/ Mudhoney, TAD, Melvins and Screaming Trees. Your post makes me think of the film Hype! (1996).
Calexico
My guess would be that only Nirvana and Pearl Jam will make it in there. No love for Alice In Chains then? I am happy about the Soundgarden reformation. Let's hope Cornell's voice is up to it and he finally decides to do away with that solo "career".

At least, I rather like the albums Dirt, Sap, and Jar of Flies. As I have said before though, I am somewhat put off by the sound of those records. Wasn't Cornell's last album some sort of techno Top 40 deal?
Calexico
Wasn't Cornell's last album some sort of techno Top 40 deal? He had some thing going on with Timbaland didn't he? Pretty poor stuff I thought. The new one from AIC is great.
Dmada
you mean like Pearl Jam are doing all this upcoming year? that remains to be seenbut they certainly appear to be doing it in Europe-which is fine by me I dont begrudge pj for playing festivals when they do things like the four nights at the spectrum but the ticket prices-thats where PJ is disappointing me. anyway, I hope SG does tour and that they play some cool, medium sized venues at semi-reasonable prices
solace
Soundgarden were never really a true arena band even in their heyday outside of Seattle, so i'd expect them to play venues between 5,000-10,000 if they do a proper US tour
Moss
I have a Chris Cornell Solo album that is actually really good. It's just him and an acoustic guitar and his voice is phenomenal. I did prefer Alice in Chains over Soundgarden though. I saw TAD open for Primus once, didn't do much for me although his threatening to stage dive was pretty damn funny. imsjry
I LOVED Soundgarden but they were known for being horrible live. Their albums are all great though. Glad they are back. Some bands are just bigger then the sum of their parts.
solace
they weren't known for being horrible live, they were known for being hit or miss live (as were The Replacements and numerous other bands). big difference.
MrRain422
Glad that Chris Cornell's old friends are trying to save him from himself, but I'm not expecting much from this reunion. That being said, I will go see them with a big grin on my face.
Analogman
Soundgarden.com No tour dates other than Lollapalooza? I guess they are waiting until Pearl Jam is finished in Europe.

Analogman
Our goal for 2011 - Let's Make A Record That is a nice thing to hear. As far as I can see, popular music is nothing but crap. About like it was in the early 1980s, when I was a kid. Maybe Soundgarden can bring back the rock.
