Guest Speed Racer
I couldn't stand his music, but I'm saddened by his death. Vibes to his friends and family.

cryptique
Whoa. I was just thinking the other day that I didn't know a thing about him and should check out his stuff. Very sad.
Sir Stewart
Wow, that's too bad. Guy was on his way up it seemed.
solace
i know he had his asshole moments in on stage in the past year or so, which consider how many rock stars (big and small) have in the past, seemed kinda insignificant in the grand scheme. i only saw him one time in 2008 and had a blast at his show. he just made really great pop punk and seemed to have the whole "don't give a fuck" attitude that can be annoying to some, but is often missing in rock music these days. tinnitus photography
i saw him open for the Pixies last November...i dug the records a bit more than his performance, but the show was in a very ornate theater and i was kept ~100' from the stage, so there's that... SarahC
i'm sad i missed the chance to see him play last year at a literal hole-in-the-wall spot here in chattanooga. blood visions is a really fun record.

Wendy
I actually got to see him in a hole-in-the-wall place here in Fort Wayne. We were so proud to get somebody this big at our little local punk bar - the Brass Rail. I wasn't really into his music, but I wanted to see his show. It was too loud up close, so I sat at the bar and put my earplugs in and THEN I could hear the underlying great pop songs he created. I'm just not into punk. He played fast and frenetic and rocked the room, then suddenly left the stage. Whooosh! Kinda like his life. Damn. RIP Jay.
tinnitus photography
a fellow photographer i 'know' from a camera board shot that show:http://www.photos.fahrenheit128.com/p560735341

Wendy
a fellow photographer i 'know' from a camera board shot that show:http://www.photos.fahrenheit128.com/p560735341Yeah, I know him. I was just at his house for a David Bazan living room show last month. Drew takes great shots, but catching a good shot of Jay Reatard's face under all that hair was a tall order. One Lucky Guitar's Matt Kelley did this poster: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3201/2880823589_d890f999e8_b.jpg
winter party person
Saw him in Montreal a few months ago. It was awesome. RIP Jay.
drop dead ed
so I found out about his death by going to spoontheband.com I'm pretty sure the last band he played with was spoon, and it's great to see that they recognized it on their homepage. This brings me back to when Jay Bennett passed, and I kinda wished Wilco would have given him more than he actually got. Maybe I missed it, i dunno.

drop dead ed
Nevertheless, it's sad to see great musicians leave early. Missed him in Austin last December. I was just hoping they'd have put Jay Bennett up on the home screen, because I think Bennett, Glenn, Stiratt, and Tweedy were a force to be reckoned with. Running out of Jays I see
