Sir Stewart
I've always preferred Bushmills to Jamesons. The Black Bush is tasty, so to speak. I'll be goddamned if I'm gonna choose a Protestant whiskey over a Catholic one.

Lammycat
Never been a big whiskey fan/drinker but dating a gal for the past year who loves Jameson & ginger ale has made me appreciate it a bit. I get crazy on too much of it but it's a nice switch from beer or wine over the course of a night out.

lamradio
please, let me know your opinion!!! -robert Loved the Makers Mark. A little stronger than the Jack, but it was great on the rocks with a couple drops of water. Might be my new favorite bourbon.
bjorn_skurj
As a native Kentuckian, I say to hell with Tennessee whiskey!
Sweet Papa Crimbo
As a native Kentuckian, I say to hell with Tennessee whiskey! Tennessee sipping whisky (Jack Daniels) only in a pinch. Even though I don't partake anymore, mark me down as a Maker's Mark Man.
bilbrekm
Loved the Makers Mark. A little stronger than the Jack, but it was great on the rocks with a couple drops of water. Might be my new favorite bourbon. Maker's has been my favorite since around 2000 and I even have a cool story as to why it's so... I was attending the high school graduation party of my girlfriend's little brother. The party was rolling, the keg was kicking and everyone was enjoying themselves. Halfway through my gf's Dad (some big-shot, Southern lawyer) asked me to go make him a Maker's and soda. So I go over to the table and wait for the woman in front of me to finish making her drink (also Maker's, but on the rocks). When I reached for the bourbon bottle she smiled and asked why I chose that one. I replied that I'd never had Makers Mark and this drink wasn't for me. She smiled and walked away. I took the drink to the guy-he asked if I made good conversation and I said sure (not sure what he was getting at). He then took me over to the bottle, turned it on its side and pointed and the 'personal' letter written to each customer from Bill Samuels, the owner. Girlfriend's dad pointed to the lady and her husband (now across the room) and said 'Let's go over and I'll introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Samuels'. Mrs. Samuels proceeded to make me the strongest Maker's and soda I've had to this day. Sorry if this was a bit long, but it's probably my favorite liquor story. The Attorney General of Kentucky was there, too. Wish I had a fun story about him...
sureshot
Is Makers Mark strong? I got some Buffalo Trace a few weeks ago, and man did it have a kick! A little too strong for my taste. Also a fantastic song Eight hours to get to Heaven HillHead down - due south - past LouisvilleDont stop until the bourbon stillParker says we can drink our fill.... cwnorman
Strahan's CO Whiskey is an excellent Whiskey. Those fans of Makers out there should try Woodford Reserve.
bjorn_skurj
Bulleit bourbon is a fine whiskey as well.
Moss
Strahan's CO Whiskey is an excellent Whiskey. Those fans of Makers out there should try Woodford Reserve. This stuff is really good. I like how they write on the label what music they are listening to during bottling. I spent a lot of time looking through the bottles to see what they were listening to. They had Cake, Tom Waits, Dave Mathews, if they had Wilco I would have been all over it.
explodo
Iowa is producing one of the finest rye whiskeys available. Hard to come by as it's hard to judge demand years out. Templeton Rye is amazing. Distilled very near to my girlfriend's house, and her dad has been talking it up for years. In the last two years or so, you can finally get it here in Chicago.
