u2roolz
"Laverne & Shirley’ is reportedly set to hit the big screen, and will star Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel, based on a script written by Jamie Foxx. The show’s producer, Garry Marshall, confirmed to TV Guide at the 18th Annual Night At Sardi’s Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s that the movie version of the hit show is in the works. The director of last month’s number-one box office hit ‘Valentine’s Day’ said Foxx, who appeared in the ensemble cast of that movie, felt his co-stars Garner and Biel were just like the TV characters. Rumors about the big-screen adaptation first began swirling during press junkets for ‘Valentine’s Day,’ as Marshall said that he and Foxx were discussing it. Marshall also said the script will focus on the current difficult times, and how the characters are dealing with their struggles. He added that he had Garner in mind to play Laverne, and Biel would portray Shirley. Foxx is also thinking about writing roles for the sitcom’s original stars, Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams, but he asked Marshall not to reveal what those roles would be." I don't know. I thought that this was an early April Fool's Day joke, but it appears to be on multiple movie news sites. I just can't picture Jamie Foxx having a dusty Laverne & Shirley script hanging around his bedroom and then Garry Marshall being like "Great Idea!...I'm giving it the greenlight and we'll get Jen & Jess from the movie that we all did together!" For those that don't know, Hollywood is also brining Gilligan's Island to the big screen. That'd make a fun cast-this game. Edit: I love how this was confirmed at an Alzheimer's Fundraiser. Tobey Maguire for The Big Ragu. Hey, I heard tings.

Mr. Kinsley
So much of that show was rooted in the 50's - how do you make that work in 2010? Lenny & Squiggy being greasers in the 50's is funny; in 2010 it's creepy.
dagwave
I had a little crush on Pinky Toscadero, I would have liked to see her with her own show. Damn, me too. Apparently Leather was offered her own show by Gary Marshall and turned it down. She didn't want to be typecast. I'm thinking maybe she should have taken the gig.
