VC meetup @ Solid Sound--Roll Call! Who's In?

Recommended Posts

OK, it's now officially just 2 weeks away, so it's time to get crackin' ! :dancing

The festival schedule indicates that activities start at 8:00 on Friday, so I thought meeting at 6:30 for drinks (dinner optional) would be a good idea. Many thanks to VCer Park (who lives in North Adams), who suggested The Hub, I called this morning and spoke with the owner Kate. There is a back room that can be reserved, and at the moment there are no other confirmed reservations. Since I didn't know how many of us there would be, I reserved for a party of 8 or 9; If it turns out that we have more signups, I will call her and see if we can expand--I think she said there's room for about 25-30 in all. Here's a link to a page with info about The Hub: http://www.iberkshir...ndex.php?rid=18 The menu looks good and pretty inexpensive. It's about 2 short blocks from Mass MoCA.

So let's do this, everyone! :cheers Reply to this post like this:

  • VC name (and real name if you want)
  • Where you're from
  • How many in your party

I think if you actually reply to this post it will preserve the previous responses and we'll have a running tally. But if not, no worries--I will separately keep track of this and will keep the restaurant apprised.

So I'll get the ball rolling. .. .

  • Wilco Me (Diane)
  • Norfolk, VA
  • 1 (I'll let my my roomies respond on their own)

What a great idea; thanks, Diane, for setting this up! Count me (Rick Smith, Denton TX) in for 2 people.

And yes, I'm the guy you corresponded with when I was thinking about selling my tix and giving up my hotel room. What was I thinking...

Hey Barb, feel free to bring that friend of yours in the picture. I mean, if he wants to come along. . . .

I'll ask. Cos, you know, we're so close. Sigh, in my active fantasy life.

A BIG FAVOR TO ASK, PLEASE:

By my rough count, we're up to 13 people now. I just called The Hub to see about increasing the size of our party. The owner won't be available till Tuesday but one of the employees said that there's a wedding party of 20 people coming in for dinner in the back room at 5:30 on the 13th. I want to call the owner on Tuesday and I need to give her as accurate a headcount as possible, so that we maximize our chances of getting as much of the back room as we need for our gathering.

So please, if you think you'll want to come, SIGN UP NOW! (If you're already replied you don't need to do it again--I've got you covered.) If there are last-minute replies, we can probably collectively figure out some alternative, but I think this is kind of a small town and we shouldn't underestimate the impact that this festival is going to have on the local establishments. So for our own sakes, as well as consideration for the owner and employees of The Hub, let's see if we can nail down the size of our party within the next day or so. :comeon

I'm going to call the owner on Tuesday, late morning.

Thanks, everyone, for your responses so far. This is going to be such a great way to kick off our fantasy Wilco weekend! :party

Hi everyone, and thanks for signing up. I spoke with Kate, the owner of The Hub, yesterday, and she's very happy about our coming. I bumped our reservation up to 20, although I told her that more people than that may actually show up, and she seemed to feel there would be no problem accommodating us. (There was an unconfirmed reservation from a wedding party at 5:30, but she was planning to call them and see if they are really coming--she had not heard from them for a while.) She said to just come on down, they'll take care of us!

Some of you have said you'd like to come a little earlier than 6:30, and she said that should be fine as well. If you plan to actually have dinner, :eat it might be a good idea to get there a little earlier, since the place may be a madhouse with the usual Friday night crowd + festival attendees, and I understand this is a popular restaurant.

This may be the last update I post about this meetup unless there's new information to pass along. Can't wait to meet you all! :cheers

NOTE: Those of you who have had personal Tweedy encounters, come prepared to be GRILLED or we will all be STEAMED, but all will be cool once we get CHILLED, FRIED, and/or PICKLED. But please. . . none of this :barf

Glad to hear they may be room to accommodate a few more, as we may have two more joining us as well!

As for Tweedy encounters, I have a few to share that I think you'll quite enjoy!... :)

I will be coming up from Long Island on Saturday also. I would like to meet some fellow VC people from around the land. It's my day off and I'll have a handful of wheel.
