Guest Speed Racer
Chinese Apple Unless you were to suggest Hell is Chrome, in which case I would agree. But then I hear I Am Trying to Break Your Heart (the one recorded by a guy without a nicer rack than me), and I think this could be the best song. Thoughts?
austrya
IATTBYH? Really. Reservations is better than IATTBYH. So is Jesus, Etc.
Guest Speed Racer
The studio recording of Jesus, Etc. is awesome. They just got that whole album to sound *right*.

mpolak21
Chinese Apple is divine for my money it's the best song Tweedy has ever written (at least without Jay). Perfect mix of lyrics, tune and arrangement, I love when the acoustic guitars build near the end of the song and then piano kicks in for the last part. I'll never get tired of listening to that first Loose Fur album. --Mike
Guest Speed Racer
My Darling makes me cry. Me too. More Like the Moon is fantastic. The drums on that song are beautiful, and it is so perfectly atmospherical. Cars Can't Escape was probably the single best song Jay and Jeff brought together. Aside from Poor Places, which is the best song on YHF that isn't one of the other songs.

Guest Speed Racer
For Wilco so loved the world, they gave us 6 C/Kameras, 2 Spiders and 4 Alone/Shakin' Sugars.
austrya
Cars Can't Escape is my favorite Wilco song ever.
lamradio
My Darling makes me cry. I hope in a good way. I've heard many a folk bash that song and it's one of my favorites..
Guest Speed Racer
Cars Can't Escape is my favorite Wilco song ever. Poor Places is probably mine. They were up to something magical back then.
austrya
Poor Places is my favorite on YHF. I hope in a good way. I've heard many a folk bash that song and it's one of my favorites.. Definitely in a good way.
Guest Speed Racer
I've always loved "That's Not The Issue." Great guitar work.
Ghost of Electricity
recently I gave a wilco-virgin friend of mine YHF to listen to and he said he was underwhelmed. Then I gave him Being There and was much more positive. It reminded me of how I grew to love YHF myself, rather than it hitting me all at once. To me it's a unified piece that can't justly be broken down into songs. Like if you take a chapter out of a book to anthologize it,the book can't be done justice. Even a decade later, it's still growing on me.

gogo
Muzzle of Bees. p.s. Hell is Chrome is not even in my top 10 Wilco/JT songs. Probably not even in my top 20.
lost highway
"Misunderstood" gives me shivers Me too, but it's more an arrangement than a song. Imagine a solo version, kinda repetitive. I'm not sure that disqualifies it by any means. What about YAMF, Wishful Thinking (that's my weepy song), Hummingbird, In a Future Age, How to Fight Loneliness. Okay, I'm bad at calling one thing the best....
Muzzle of Dan
I choose Muzzle of Bees.
The High Heat
I recently listened to a Jeff Tweedy interview from August '08 in which he stated that he considers Passenger Side the best song he's ever written. He also said he loves to play Handshake Drugs live, but Glenn doesn't because his part in that song is too simple.

barbkm
I Am Trying to Break Your Heart -- then Either Way...then Outta Site ...then Spiders....then Impossible Germany...then Less Than You Think....then, oh the list could go on and on. Oh, On and On and On...then Via Chicago... then Company in My Back... then Country Disappeared (and yes I know I'll take a verbal beating for giving such high marks to a song from W/TA, bring it on. Jeff hit it out of the ball park with this one at the Bowery.)

Magnetized
I recently listened to a Jeff Tweedy interview from August '08 in which he stated that he considers Passenger Side the best song he's ever written. Passenger Side is my all time favorite song. I wasn't going to post that because I thought I'd be laughed off this board, but it always just makes me happy as hell to listen to that song. It's the perfect evocation of a certain specific time in your life--the melody and the lyrics and the whole loose feel of the song mesh seamlessly for me. I request that one at every damn show, and I'm so glad they don't seem to get tired of playing it.
