captain obvious
It is 2011 in Mississippi.
Good Old Neon
2011 – but obviously at least half of the GOP-ers that responded are useless fucking bitchbags.
GtrPlyr
Wow, that is very sad. I'd be curious to see how this poll plays out in the rest of the country.
Magnetized
And this bears out the dirty little secret about right wing, Bible-thumping conservatives, particularly in the south. Edit: My bet is that a similar poll in the rest of the country would not be as extreme, but there would still be a much higher percentage of racists in that political segment than in others. Guest Jules
I bet 46 percent of Mississippi Democrats want the same thing. I don't see what political affiliation has to do with this.
Hoodoo Man
I live in Mississippi and believe me, I'm not defending dumbass racists, but keep in mind, this was a poll of 400 people from a specific voting segment. I'm not saying we're light years ahead of where we were 50 years ago, but not every white person in MS has a hooded cloak in their closet.
Good Old Neon
I bet 46 percent of Mississippi Democrats want the same thing. I don't see what political affiliation has to do with this. You really don't?
remphish1
It almost doesn't matter who was polled the scary part is 46% still said that!
OOO
Maybe they just don't support any form of marriage at the moment - interracial or otherwise - because they find it shameful that same-sex marriages are not allowed in all 50 states. I would find that somewhat reasonable.
jff
Yeah, that's probably it.
Guest Speed Racer
46% of 400 primary voters? Because primary turnout always produces a respresentative sample of people in any given state. 184 really enthusiastic GOP members possess really consertative viewpoints? Never woulda guessed. KevinG
I bet 46 percent of Mississippi Democrats want the same thing. I don't see what political affiliation has to do with this. I would take that bet.
Skian
I would like to see Mississippi the interracial marriage and same sex marriage honeymoon destination hotspot in the US. In-your-face nuptuals!
ikol
I bet most Arkansas Democrats are opposed to interracial marriage.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
The numbers from Mississippians of color would be interesting also.
Guest Jules
I would take that bet.you missed the point
Vacant Horizon
it really is amazing when people want to vote in shit that doesn't concern them in the least.
KevinG
you missed the point So what is your point? Is it that 46% of all Mississippians disapprove of interracial marriage? I don't think so. The poll numbers are skewed because I would imagine the pollster took a sample size of a group (the republican party) that is primarily white. In the south you will find that that more whites hold such views.
