jff
I think they would be great as a 4 piece. Jeff, John, Glenn, and Pat. John is definitely needed for it to be Wilco. The rest could go. Although, they would have a hell of a time finding someone better than Glenn. The 6 man lineup is unnecessary and a bit much. I would even love to hear them as a 3 piece without Pat. That'd definitely be interesting to hear, but it'd probably force John to play a lot more notes than he currently does. To me, the beauty in his playing is that he knows when not to play, and has the luxury of playing very minimally. It's almost impossible to do that in a three piece group without the sound getting very empty. I don't know of any three piece rock band that didn't have a much busier bass player than John. Sweet Papa Crimbo
No way. As much as I like the current lineup, I wouldn't mind a pretty radical lineup overhaul. Not that it'll happen soon, but it will eventually. But I wonder if Jeff has it in him to have another night of the long knives...
Shakespeare In The Alley
I think Jeff's always gonna write songs. And I just don't see him wanting to do the whole thing solo. If a solo career was all he wanted, there would be Jeff Tweedy solo albums by now.
smells like flowers
Not to split hairs, but Nels usually plays lap steel unless he took up pedal steel in the last couple years. I mean I think I could play pedal steel just fine. LouieBI wish he would... pedal steel slays me. Lap steel, not so much.
