agreed. i do not think he will do well at all.

He has a .171 interleague ERA.

He won't have to bat

Philadelphia almost made a 3rd and possibly even a 4th trade at the trade deadline.

From an article featuring an interview of Phils GM Ruben Amaro, Jr.:

"A fan's brain would melt upon hearing some of the names and proposals. Amaro said the Phils had a "very, very big opportunity very, very late that was extremely interesting." It did not pan out, but he said it is something they could revisit in the offseason."

"Phillies scouts spent plenty of time evaluating the Rangers' farm system when they believed they might have to trade Cole Hamels. But once the Phils signed the left-hander to a six-year, $144 million extension, a trade was no longer a possibility, although they still used their information when they briefly discussed sending Cliff Lee to Texas."

Mutiny in Boston? Reportedly 17 players attended this meeting. The whole Red Sox scene has gotten ugly. I think they should trade a dozen players this offseason and fire Valentine the next.

These are the same sniveling cowards who spit the bit and cost Terry Francona his job.

Selfish players underperforming.

I saw all I needed to know about the Red Sox in the last Series against the Rangers.

Dustin Pedroya gets called out on a checked swing strikeout. He rails at the umpire for long enough that it was surprising that he didn't get tossed.

The next inning, he won't let it go and gets tossed as David Murphy is hit by a pitch.

Selfish player.

That bitch Karma strikes again. Melky acted like an ass in Atlanta a couple weeks ago and turned the Giants away from contract negotiations. If the Giants miss the postseason, Cabrera's free agency won't be as enriching as he had hoped.

So I take it you wouldn't take a liking to my idea an offseason trade scenario along the lines of: Boston sends Pedroria, Gonzalez, and Aviles to Texas for Kinsler, Andrus, Moreland, and a decent minor league pitcher (under the scenario of Hamilton leaving)?

Good God no. I wouldn't trade anything for that gutless bunch from Boston.

The red sox are totally bumming me out this year. Seriously.

Last year couldn't have been very uplifting either.

They really need to tear it all down in Beantown. Things are apparently so bad in that clubhouse that only a handgrenade could solve things.

hard to shed any tears for boston.

valentine is an ass and the players appear unable to accept any responsibility for anything.

How can Lester complain about the pressure of playing in Boston and expect any good from it? (and i love Lester).

Pedroia is a punk; Lester and Gonzalez are whiners; Ortiz appears to have quit and the entire clubhouse is a pit of plotting, scheming prima donnas.

And Valentine gets the blame. I guess you can't fire 25, although this team could sure use a really good house keeping.

Theo and Fran got out just in time. Fran probably wanted to stay, but Theo bailed out faster than a Casino Queen wife.

I've begun preparing my wife for the reality that is the Reds are going to the World Series this year and I am prepared to pay what ever for tickets. Catch is, it starts a week before our third child is due to arrive. Baby boys in my family run big(I was 9lb15oz) and he could arrive early. I have wished her luck and told her to send me pics, we might even arrange some Skype or something.

As cool as it would be, I don't think the Reds are going to the World Series.

I don't see a critical playoff aspect that they are lacking. Of course anything can happen but they have put themselves in an excellent position to make a run. Their starting pitching is good, their bullpen is great, they have maintained despite losing Votto for over a month. Most importantly the intangibles that make playoff baseball teams, the beloved cagey veteran(Rolen), the autumn experienced manager, and most importantly the wirey utility guy who's beaten the odds(Todd Frazier). Of course they could lose every game from tomorrow on but this city is buzzing like only Cincinnati can when it comes to post season baseball, it's pretty exciting.
