Sweet Papa Crimbo
Nasty or silly, intra or inter band. There are really two kinds of feuds...legitimate hatred and publicity driven Real Angst by real people...a lot of it one sided. Most of it involving drugs. John Fogerty vs. the rest of Creedence (Heavy Weight Division. Maybe the absolutely greatest feud of all time. Family, Dynamics, Band Dynamics, Money...all it needs is a smack addict.) Courtney Love vs. Dave Grohl (Fighting over a memory. Crazy lady keeping it going 20 years down the line.)Courtney Love vs. Trent Reznor (Cocaine, collaboration and coitus with a crazy chick do not mix)Phil vs. Don Everly (Brotherly Armageddon...the gold standard and the quietest)Ray vs. Dave Davies (Brotherly Armageddon...the Brit invasion version)Noel vs. Liam Gallagher (Brotherly Armageddon...silly Brits on coke version)Dave Mustaine vs. Metallica (So you're pissed about getting kicked out of a band because you were a drunken fool?)John vs. Paul (Heavy Weight Division part II. More ink has been spilled on this one than many wars. Both Parties came to regret the harsh words, so it has a bit of sadness associated with it)Axl vs. Slash (Why do you think they call it dope?)DLR vs. Sammy Hagar vs. the Van Halen Brothers (and all the various combinations)Tommy Lee vs. Kid Rock (Two musical cyphers fighting over a scuzzy whore...included for sheer entertainment value)Roger Waters vs. David Gilmour (You think YOU'RE the creative force? Fuck you. We'll tour and sell out stadiums while you tour and sell out clubs..plus we'll keep the fucking flying pig)Art Garfunkle vs. Paul Simon (David vs. Goliath and Goliath makes a greasy spot on the road of David)Joe Perry vs. Steven Tyler (Cocaine, Collaboration and egos run amok)Keith vs. Mick (pretty Epic in the Mid-80's...Mick playing the prima Donna and Keef reawakening after a 14 drug induced ennui)Stewart Copeland vs. Sting (this one actually got fun...then the Police got back together and it lost some steam) Feuds motivated by desire for media attention Dandy Warhols vs. Brian Jonestown Massacre (This one is the most fun because Anton Newcombe is a freaking Maniacal Genius)Beatles vs. Stones (Media creation Mk I. Overstated, but this rivalry got blown up into a feud by the press machine)Neil Young vs. Lynyrd Skynyrd (probably a publicity stunt...definitely overstated, but pretty famous)Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam (Media Creation Mk II. Kurt Cobain's media assaults on Pearl Jam were fruitless...Pearl Jam really never took the bait, and the press wept)Oasis vs. Blur (silly Britpop shit) Haven't included any of the rap feuds (Jay Z vs. Nas; Tupac vs. Biggie; the NWA meltdown; east coast vs. west coast) because things kind of lose the fun aspect when people start dying. Sweet Papa Crimbo
No Jeff Tweedy vs Jay Farrar? I find that one lacking a little firepower.Outside of Jay making some odd accusations while promoting a record and Jeff being quoted for a fawning band biography...really no steam or vitriol. The High Heat
I find that one lacking a little firepower.Outside of Jay making some odd accusations while promoting a record and Jeff being quoted for a fawning band biography...really no steam or vitriol. What about the other Jay? At least there was a lawsuit involved there. What ever happened with that litigation anyway?
Fritz
Robbie & Levon - very sad. Though, from what I read, patched up at the end (on Levon's deathbed).
mountain bed
Mickey Hart v. Phil Lesh? Very minor on the scale that's been laid out already, but it's hard to forgive Mick for the "He must've got a liver from a jerk" comment. Definitely a low-light in the history of the band. PopTodd
How about the nonexistant one between Neil Young and Lynrd Skynnrd?(oops. mentioned already.)
mpolak21
What about the other Jay? At least there was a lawsuit involved there. What ever happened with that litigation anyway? When Jay passed away, to the best of my knowledge it disappeared.

mpolak21
GG Allin vs. everybody (including himself). Thanks to the comedic stylings of Scharpling and Wurster (from the Best Show on WFMU), I have probably laughed harder at the uh "legacy" of Mr. Allin than anything else of late: http://wfmu.org/listen.m3u?show=31271&archive=51865. Winston Legthigh
When Jay passed away, to the best of my knowledge it disappeared. That's what typically happens when one of the litigants to a dispute, you know, dies...
mpolak21
That's what typically happens when one of the litigants to a dispute, you know, dies... Right. I don't anything about what Jay's family would have or wouldn't have pursued, so I won't speculate.
Winston Legthigh
Right. I don't anything about what Jay's family would have or wouldn't have pursued, so I won't speculate. Here's the complaint. http://www.courthousenews.com/2009/05/05/Wilco.pdf I'm guessing that Bennett's lawyer didn't do his homework and Tweedy wasn't the proper party to sue for his grievances (alleged missed payments for his membership in Wilco, and no payments for appearing in IATTBYH (the film). tinnitus photography
J. Mascis vs. Lou Barlow not sure if that would really qualify...Lou was the one who got pissed off. J was just his passive/aggressive self. and that water has long since flowed under the bridge. how about on-stage fights? Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson have duked it out. as did the drummer from Radio Moscow and Parker Griggs (whose forehead was on the receiving end of his thrown guitar) http://www.pluginmus...age-during-show
