bleedorange
Good to hear that you're safe, sparky. Always hard for me to comprehend the amount of devastation when I'm not personally affected.
remphish1
I'm in Central NJ...had no power from 730pm Monday to Friday 6 am...No damage to my house but neighbohrs had 50 ft tall trees fall and wreck there fence and tear up their yards. This is the second time in 2 storms I had to throw out everything in the fridge and freezer (Just did a big shopping trip the week prior!) I work in the utility field and have been working crazy hours to get things back to normal. Will be plugging away for the next week too I am sure... The Shore which I know and grew up on is mostly desimated. It is sad and depressing. In additon running low on gas. Lines are anywhere from 30 min to 5 hours...Still 1.4 mil in NJ without power. Thankful to be safe and hope those who didn't make it didn't suffer long.
kidsmoke
The NYC Marathon has been cancelled. I think that's the right decision, and it should have been made days ago. I'm glad they made that decision too. It wasn't the right time. remphish, thanks for checking in, and I'm glad you're ok. I'm sure tons of people appreciate the very long, tough hours you must be putting in, trying to get the electricity back up. I can't even imagine the kind of devastation you must be seeing. Skian
This has some info where you can donate - money, food, clothes, kids stuff etc. http://communityservice.rutgers.edu/hurricane-sandy-relief-efforts/ My family and friends will be sending food, warm clothes and kids stuff to those who are in need. More donations would be great.
