Sir Stewart
Did you read the Whitlock piece? That word is just one piece of a hip hop culture that celebrates the young black man as a dangerous, volatile creature to be feared.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkLxEk_9Vjk
Tweedling
One of the best hip hop albums of all time!

KevinG
Yes, but did anyone get shot? I heard the average response time for police in emergency situations is 58 minutes. So more than likely someone is gonna get shot.
Good Old Neon
What the world, or more specifically, Detroit, needs, is a half dozen or so more George Zimmermans to wash away the scum and stuff.

Tweedling
About to throw on my ear goggles and reminisce."You're not any less of a man if you don't pull the trigger, you're not necessarily a man if you do"
JUDE
MI should look at selling Detroit to Canada. It's running at about a 50% vacancy rate currently and maybe new ownership could turn it around.
lost highway
This thread got downright satirical. I think it's working nicely.

KevinG
http://www.cnbc.com/id/100897441 WTF? I don't think I would go to Charles Barkley on he thoughts on basketball, let alone something like this. I wonder what he thinks about Detroit.

ih8music
Barkley has always been one of the more intelligent guys in sports, and he's never been afraid of voicing an opinion that might be unpopular. Didn't he consider running for office at one point?
rareair
Barkley has always been one of the more intelligent guys in sports, and he's never been afraid of voicing an opinion that might be unpopular. Didn't he consider running for office at one point? "I may be mistaken, but I'm never wrong." - Charles Barkley he has an honest opinion, which is refreshing. he is not intelligent. just honest. Atticus
WTF? I don't think I would go to Charles Barkley on he thoughts on basketball, let alone something like this. I wonder what he thinks about Detroit. it gives every white person and black person who's racist a platform to vent their ignorance... I watched the trial closely and I watched all these people on television talking about it, and a lot of these people have a hidden agenda... it was a bad situation and we all lost. yeah, what a moron. KevinG
yeah, what a moron. Why not? HIs comments were insightful no doubt. But this just goes to the over arching obsession we have with this case in particular. Charles Barkley is a former NBA player and sports commentator. There is no reason to ask him what he thinks about this, let alone for the people watching to care. I like my athletes to play sports, I like my actors to act. It is as simple as that. ih8music
I wonder what Tweedy thinks about all this.
Mr. Heartbreak
President Obama made some more pertinent remarks on the case today:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/19/obama-zimmerman-verdict_n_3624504.htmlProbably will not change any hearts or minds. Some will call it powerful and appropriate, the other side will call it pandering and fanning the flames.
Good Old Neon
I'm just worried about how this might be affecting the Kardashians.

ih8music
In that vein (Obama's comments, not the Kardashian joke), I found this clip of Levar Burton & Time Wise relating their life experiences to be very enlightening.

JUDE
I think PBO had every right to speak about the Travon Martin thing again, the deceased being the president's son and all that.
