Tweedling
......... On the flip side I can't imagine someone with deeply held conservative political views listening with any pleasure in listening to Public Enemy. LouieBImagine it.
lost highway
I get that. I get how you can listen to something that is promoting an attitude, character, or set of values you don't share. The easiest way to understand this dynamic is to hang out with a bunch of bourgeois white folk partying to Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre's landmark album The Chronic, or better still NWA. Kind of like I never get tired of hearing Mavis Staples exalt with a mighty "Hallelujah" although there's hardly a Christian bone in my body.

Atticus
In other news, today I received a response email from a state senator (TX) to whom I wrote while the abortion clusterfuck disaster was going on a few weeks ago. It was basically a form letter of sorts, but still appreciated. Kudos to Leticia Van de Putte for fighting the good fight.

Songs that are politically supportive of leftish topics don't appear to me to be universal, if you don't share those ideas. LouieB

Mr. Heartbreak
Has anyone been following the dustup between Rand Paul and Chris Christie (he asks, rubbing his hands together gleefully)? God, I love seeing a circular firing squad. Phrase of the day: The King of Bacon. Good one, Rand!

lost highway
In other news: fast-food workers band together demanding a higher minimum-wage and the right to unionize. McDonalds response is unsuprisingly callous and Mr. Burns-y.
Tweedling
I heard we've closed some embassies in parts of the Muslim world.... Is there another video on you tube?!
Guest Don Draper
I like listening to Public Enemy. I'm not a huge rap person, but I can't get enough of Niggas in Paris. And yet, I do not want to order fish filet, nor do I want to get married at the mall. Or do anything to Kanye in a bathroom stall. Everybody Loves Raymond is a fun show. I can watch it and laugh at Patricia Heaton's hilarious character, though I know that in real life she makes Michele Bachmann look level-headed and middle of the road. If we genuinely identified with every lyric we ever sang along to, I'm guessing there would be a lot more wife-murderers among us.

KevinG
I heard we've closed some embassies in parts of the Muslim world.... Is there another video on you tube?!It is comments like this that show just how hypocritical the right can be. You would be the first to point the finger at the administration if an attack happened and nothing was done. But I guess when you think everything PBO does is bad, I would expect any other type of comment.

In the post 9/11 (and Benghazi) world shows that caution is best course of action. But yet you make light of the actions of the administration. So yes I will go with that. KevinG
If you can't have serious convictions about something and be flippant about them too on a message board then I don't even know what.It is not that, and I guess my frustration is not with tweedling it is with right in general. Admittedly I used him as a straw man, which was wrong of me. But my original point stands. The right sits there cracking jokes about this current threat, even some going as far as saying it is a made up distraction. But if there was an attack you know that right would be calling for PBO's head because he didn't do anything. It smacks of hypocrisy.
