KevinG
CNN crawl says people are having problems enrolling in Obamacareaid online Imagine that, a website has never gone down when a lot of people have tried to get into it on the same time. Give me an f'ing break. If that is the only complaint about ACA it shows how petty some on the right are. I heard Rush complaining that one of the security questions for a lost ID is your favorite radio station. I wonder if the tin foil hat reflects off the golden EIB microphone. KG the middle I am talking about is on the actual budget and funding of the government. Leave the radical agenda items at the door and discuss what needs to get done. Stopping ACA is a radical agenda item in my book. Not that I favor it ( I am more of a single payer person ) but after 46 attempts to get rid of it, maybe it is time to move on. I think we are in agreement here. But unfortunately we can't even get to serious talks about budget and funding because the far right simply refuses to leave the their radical agenda at the door. John Smith
Of course defining what is radical all depends on your perspective. They believe their all or nothing position is perfectly reasonable
Atticus
I just saw on CNN how this government shutdown is threatening already-planned weddings at national parks. Doesn't threaten marriage as much as the gays of course, but still...
Mr. Heartbreak
At this point, the real elephant in the room is gerrymandering. Thanks to the way districts have been divided, it is unlikely that either the Rs or the Ds will have a massive year in 2014. I'd be willing to bet that, if anything, the Rs will pick up a few seats, and we will continue to have sharply divided (and highly ineffective) government. Scroll back through this thread in November 2014 and see if I was right. I hope I'm wrong.
John Smith
The other elephant in the room is our military/security/intelligence spending which is mare out to be political suicide to try and control.

It was a statement of fact--a lot of people tried to get on the site at once and it had problems. It's just a thing. I worry about your blood pressure.

It was your post, in combination to what I heard form Rush that put me over the edge. It just seems that the right is looking at anything wrong with ACA and then crying like it is the end of the world. No need to worry about my blood pressure it is just fine, but I thank you for your concern.

Nah, I listen to Rush to try to understand the crazy. It doesn't help.

Tweedling
JT should write a song about the shutdown. Make it "protesty".I imagine it sounding like an outtake from WTA
Mr. Heartbreak
I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight Against a shutdown, a shutdown, a shutdown... Like that?
NoJ
I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight, I'll fight Against a shutdown, a shutdown, a shutdown... Like that? On the right track, add some "omphs" or some growls and you'd have a winner.
Mr. Heartbreak
That's for the backup singers. I'm a songwriter, man.
IRememberDBoon
Yeah. Todd bagged a moose. Dinner. Appropriate to remind folks in the GOP establishment that the progressive Bull Moose Party also met its demise - in no small part because of some liberal positions it co-opted from the left.haha does she mean the liberals positions co-opted the bull moose party
Hixter
My neighbor shot a moose in Alaska last week. I'm looking forward to trying out this recipe: Moose Meatloaf 2 lbs moose burger1 lb Jimmy Dean hot sausage3 eggs1 cup Italian bread crumbs½ cup chopped onion4 stalks chopped celeryChopped bell pepper (optional)1 tbsp worcestershire sauceSalt, pepper and garlic powder Mix and place into deep glass loaf pan. Bake covered at 350F for 45 min. Uncover and top with cheddar cheese or horseradish cheddar cheese. Squirt ketchup on top and bake in the oven for 15 additional minutes. Serve hot or slice up for sandwiches.

KevinG
"What we're seeing is the collapse of institutional Republican power." The most important section in the whole article: RC: When you get the members off the talking points you come to a simple conclusion: They don't face consequences for taking these hardline positions. When you hear members talk candidly about their biggest victory, it wasn’t winning the House in 2010. It was winning the state legislatures in 2010 because they were able to redraw their districts so they had many more conservative voters. The members get heat from the press but they don't get heat from back home. This is why we are in this mess.
