IRememberDBoon
I actually love the Stones and have seen them many times over the years since the late sixties, so I totally get why they would get a kick out of playing a date or two as the warmup band. And there could be some great interactions--obviously, Nels sitting in with the Stones for a shredfest, and Mick could school Jeff in onstage strutting. And what a time to dust off the old Nudie suits! But I just hope if this happens it would be for at most a date or two, But what do I know? Their instincts haven't steered them wrong yet. I'll try to have faith that they know what they're doing. tell us a story from the 60s or 70s! where did you see them?
suites
go on... Do you know something you want to share with us? Also, sorry for "the boys" reference just trying to keep it loose around here.
e_wind
I don't know the credibility or the "reliable source" but Jim James just announced that MMJ is going to be touring with Bob Dylan and a "third beloved band" that people are claiming they know is Wilco. Dont really see how those three can tour together unless the shows are all 8 hours long. We'll see
linclink
I don't know the credibility or the "reliable source" but Jim James just announced that MMJ is going to be touring with Bob Dylan and a "third beloved band" that people are claiming they know is Wilco. Dont really see how those three can tour together unless the shows are all 8 hours long. We'll seeWhile I guess I can now also say that that is exactly, to the letter, the same rumor I had heard myself & referenced back in post #6 on this thread.I honestly doubt it very much, but who knows...and of those three...I've seen Dylan, plenty, & while the last time a couple of years ago was still good, knowing he'd be the headliner is not very exciting to me. He's cheaper than The Rolling Stones, but with Mick Taylor playing with them, & all, I'd much rather see The Rolling Stones.And...My Morning Jacket is one of a handful of bands I've tried to check out again recently (along with The National) & they just haven't clicked for me...I don't dislike them, but wouldn't be excited about them being involved...so I really hope that Wilco would have the second position in this line-up- though honestly, IMHO, at this point, they are head & shoulders the most talented & interesting of these three acts, & I'd much rather see them headline.Maybe if the show was close by & not expensive I might consider going...but otherwise I'd be paying a lot of money to see Wilco play for 45 minutes.I'd consider getting one of those $85 lottery tickets for a Wilco-Stones show, but I'd be much less excited about the Wilco-Dylan-MMJ bill... Ghost of Electricity
Why wouldn't they want to open for the Stones? It's the next best thing to actually being in the Stones. Just too bad they can't do it in a 40-year time warp

Queen Amaranthine
Mick could school Jeff in onstage strutting. Not sure we want Jeff to have that kind of education.
mountain bed
I'd agree to this only if the Stones joined Wilco in playing Honky Tonk Women >Casino Queen.Fixed it for ya. Actually I was in a little garage band years ago and we used to do that.
mountain bed
The future for this band is to continue to be the best working America band heading toward being the greatest American band.Nah, unless that little combo from Asbury Park NJ decides to permanently close up shop. Queen Amaranthine
If Wilco were to open for the Stones, they ought to play Won't Let You Down. It has a Stonesy sound to it. That thought led me to dig out YHF demos today, which I hadn't done for a very long time. Sweet.
Ghost of Electricity
i think being there era wilco is the stonesiest.

choo-choo-charlie
Won't Let You Down is a really Stonesy song. It's also one of the few tracks I skip on the otherwise awesome YHF demos.
Muzzle of Dan
I always thought Casino Queen had a Stones vibe.

lamradio
Also "Dreamer In My Dreams", as terrible as that song is. Always sort of reminds me of Honky Tonk Woman.
Guest Jules
Also "Dreamer In My Dreams", as terrible as that song is. How dare you.

bobfrombob
One of my favorite Jeff lines of all time came the last time they opened... "Stick around, the Rolling Stones are coming up next".
