nalafej
Caught these tweets too late to check out the show. Anybody go? Hear anything? Margaret Cho @margaretcho13hThank you so much Chicago!!! I'm always in love @jimmeshelter @edwardherda @Oneanda3 @glennkotche @Wilco #mother #fatpussy #dreamcometrue Glenn Kotche @glennkotche17hSo happy to be playing with the amazing @margaretcho @Oneanda3 @edwardherda @jimmeshelter tonight! #chicagotheater John Stirratt @Oneanda317hBacking @margaretcho and @jimmeshelter with @glennkotche at the Chi theater tonight From Redeyechicago.com: So you’ve been to Chicago numerous times; what are some of your favorite things to do here? I don’t really ever get to hang out, I haven’t gotten to do that much there. I’ve worked there, and every time I’ve worked there it’s been kind of in and out and I’ve had to go to the next place. I don’t even know. This time I’m hoping I’ll have time to go see Wilco’s loft where they have all of their great equipment that’s like their apartment and they’re an amazing, amazing band. ... I followed them a bunch when they did their American tour with Bob Dylan so I think, I would like to see the guitars, I’m hoping there will be some Wilco presence at my show there. Magnetized
Oh God, Margaret Cho can be hysterical in concert. I saw her live show a few years ago and it was absolutely filthy but so funny. I would love to have watched Glenn's and John's reactions to her comedy. Now that would have been something!
Lammycat
I wonder if Glenn did rim shots they whole show.
NoJ
"....they whole show" What is that, some kinda hipster mountain slang?
choo-choo-charlie
I wonder if Glenn did rim shots they whole show. Yes, while standing on his kit.
LouieB
And there's the crux of my pun. Sorry I missed that. Oh God, Margaret Cho can be hysterical in concert. Now that would have been something!Filthy is fine (LouieCK is also filthy and funny), but I have just never found her act funny on TV. It could be better in person. nalafej
Sounds filthy: Daniel @Pip13119 Oct.@margaretcho just brought #wilco on stage to play backup while she sings Fat Pussy. #win http://instagram.com/p/frHmkYl2OB/http://pic.twitter.com/uJqLYFxnil
Magnetized
Just did a google search and came up with this photo. I can't figure out when it was taken--maybe during the Americanarama tour somewhere. Note the Wilco hoodie. Also, I ran across an article from August here where she talks about, among other things, her Wilco fandom.
gogo
She talked on her podcast about attending a few shows on that tour. She also mentioned trying to get backstage at one show, but being blocked by Bob Dylan's people (I think that was the story, I listened to it a while back), but she said she was texting with some of the guys in Wilco that night, and they were going to get her in to a later show. So it sounded like she's been friendly-ish with them for a while. (I'm "meh" on most of her stand-up, although I do think she's had some funny and/or touching moments. And I like just listening to her talk (her podcasts, other interviews, etc.), more so than when she's performing. I'm not a fan of her impression of her mother...) Analogman
I use to watch her show All American Girl (1994-1995).
LouieB
I use to watch her show All American Girl (1994-1995).I think that is my major exposure to her act and that show wasn't funny either. I guess everyone has to play on their own ethnic stereotypes to be a comedian, but I found some of it fell very flat. LouieB
Magnetized
Her TV shows have been crap, not surprisingly, and the new one, Drop Dead Diva, is even worse. I'm talking about her standup act. To me, she's not up there with Louis C.K. and maybe a notch below Sarah Silverman, and she does have some annoying affectations, like holding a pose too long at the end of a punchline, but if anyone's interested check out one of her comedy specials: I'm the One That I Want or The Notorious C.H.O. She plays around with gender and racial stereotypes and does some multimedia stuff involving singing and dancing. And her tattoos are gorgeous!
Analogman
I think The Notorious C.H.O. is the only comedy special of hers I can recall watching.

Sarah Silverman is an acquired taste and she is also sometimes very good and sometimes not. Louie CK is highly conceptual and totally offensive to many people and not to some people's taste, but clearly brilliant. Hey even 45 years after his death Lenny Bruce is still highly offensive to some people. Cringing is okay in some cases, but cringing and NOT getting a laugh is a problem. I have seen some of Cho's stand-up and it might be funnier in person than on HBO. Some people were simply funny all the time, but those are the true geniuses such as George Carlin and Richard Pryor. Everyone else is a matter of taste (as were they I suppose.) LouieB
lamradio
Louis CK is the new George Carlin. Brilliant and absolutely hilarious.
uncool2pillow
Margaret Cho was in the Bob Mould tribute concert a couple of years ago. She can't sing, and she's not ever made much of an impression upon me as a comedienne. Oh well.
Robby
Funny, I always saw Louis CK more as Woody Allen - especially the way he approaches his TV show.Funniest thing I saw him do in recent memory was a paraody of his own show, but as Abraham Lincoln on SNL.Couldn't stop laughing at the skit's song over the opening credits (Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln instead of Louie, Louie, Louie). Guest Don Draper
I don't find her terribly funny myself. I want to like her, but I don't. I cannot stand Sarah Silverman either. I think I would enjoy Louis CK more if people didn't hold up every insight of his to be the New Great Truth about America.
