tinnitus photography
Regarding that Roth video, if I knew I had less than a year to live, I would seriously consider rushing the stage and bludgeoning him. Regarding your apologies to Aerosmith enthusiasts, I don't want to meet one. I was into them in high school, but post Draw the Line (it had a few good tracks) and "Chip Away the Stone" (I thought it was a great version of a song they didn't write), why anyone would care, other than nostalgia for the old tunes, is beyond me. total agreement with you. Winston Legthigh
TIL that Aerosmith only had one #1 hit in their career, and it came in 1998 for whatever that song was that they did for the Armageddon movie. That's 25 years to get a #1. That's got to be up there as longest time to get a #1, no? Are there any other notable long waits for a #1? The other week I learned that The Kinks never had a #1 in the US. That surprised me.

I don't know about #1s, but the Grateful Dead had their only top 10 hit (Touch of Grey) in 1987. 22 years after forming.

jff
Yeah, the Dead are the only ones that immediately sprang to mind... Now that I think of it, I think Santana beats Aerosmith. Smooth was his first #1 in 1999, 30 years after the debut album in 1969.

Smooth was his first #1 in 1999, 30 years after the debut album in 1969.Wow, nice shot. If we're going by top 10, then Evil Ways and Black magic woman both would qualify... But yeah - they had 2 #1s in a row in 1999.
nalafej
Bob Seger's ShakeDown is his only #1 hit 26 years into his career & Cheap Trick with their only #1, The Flame, 15 years into their career (they didn't write it) are other examples
Winston Legthigh
Depending on where you clock their beginnings, Los Lobos were together for 14 years before hitting #1 with their cover of La Bamba - their only hit.

nalafej
Nice that Joey was able to appear. I slagged Aero for opening Vegas shows with Joe Perry's Let The Music Do the Talking and I'm sticking with that but Foo Fighters sound pretty great doing it. “Rats in the Cellar,” Cheap Trick“Crazy,” Jonas Brothers“Angel,” Luis Fonsi & Emily King“Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” Ashley McBryde“What it Takes,” Gavin DeGraw“Janie’s Got a Gun,” Kesha“Cryin,’” Yola & Gary Clark Jr. “Livin’ on the Edge,” LeAnn Rimes“I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” John Legend“Home Tonight,” Jessie J“Walk This Way,” Melissa Etheridge with Nuno Bettencourt“Back in the Saddle,” Sammy Hagar with Orianthi“Let the Music Do the Talking,” Foo Fighters“Toys in the Attic,” Foo Fighters“Big 10 Inch Record,” Aerosmith“Dream On,” Aerosmith with H.E.R.“Sweet Emotion,” Aerosmith“Train Kept A-Rollin,’” Aerosmith with Alice Cooper & Johnny Depp
Analogman
Maybe not that well known these days - but Let The Music Do The Talking was later re-done by the band on a album called Done With Mirrors. Everything was backwards - you had to hold it up in front of a mirror to read it.

ditty
Aerosmith reunited with Joey Kramer in Las Vegas on February 10 for the first time since the drummer filed a lawsuit against his bandmates last month in an effort to rejoin the lineup following a series of health issues....http://www.hennemusic.com/2020/02/video-aerosmith-reunites-with-drummer.html
calvino
Perhaps it was just the footage from the phone, but it seems crowd response to Kramer seem a bit tepid. Kinda like the crowd wasn't following any of this drama. Maybe, that just the Vegas vibe.
Analogman
You have to think rock stars exist in their own world - Guy spends money on a lawsuit - gets banned from entering the building where the band is rehearsing for an event - then joins them on stage at the event - then joins them on stage to play
