kidsmoke
I can confirm the setlist as printed was exactly as you have it, Paul. It was great seeing you. Awaiting your commentary!
bböp
I can confirm the setlist as printed was exactly as you have it, Paul. It was great seeing you. Awaiting your commentary! Wow, that's never happened to me with VC before. I had a decent-sized recap written and was just about ready to post it...when my computer suddenly crashed. I don't really have the energy to rewrite it all now, so I guess I'll just have to let it go. Sad trombone. What I had written really wasn't that good (honestly), and I didn't have a great seat to hear or see a lot of the audience back-and-forth that once again seemed to perplex Jeff anyway, so hopefully others that did will chime in and pick me up... Albert Tatlock
^^^^^ The modern day equivalent to "the dog ate my homework, honestly sir". So for now I'll have to make do with this commentary https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ktYMkxD0Fzc
Shug
That was the best Wilco show I've ever seen! They were just on fire from the first note and never letup, they steamrolled it, super tight super clean nuanced incredible vocals and so many gorgeous musical details from Michael and Pat. What a setlist too with Sunken Treasure Reservations and poor Places! Staggeringly great musical genius ensemble rock, they are at the top of their game. LD and I were blown away. Another night still to go!
Shug
And I think Tweedy is the kind of artist performer who can feed off his own annoyance and frustration and channel it into a more intense performance. There was a lot of tension between Jeff and some people and I think in an uncomfortable way it fueled the show and weirdly helped it be fantastic.

At least as far as Jeff is concerned.

tstrapac
Not For The Season was amazing. Best I've ever heard it, maybe better than the record. Just Stunning.
kidsmoke
Not For The Season was amazing. Best I've ever heard it, maybe better than the record. Just Stunning. Absolutely agreed! And, how intimate and intense was "Happiness"?!
tstrapac
Absolutely agreed! And, how intimate and intense was "Happiness"?! I have to admit I'm not intimately familiar with the new record yet, so some of the intricacies might be a bit lost on me.
Shug
Yeah there was a great little jam in it also one in Locator right before, a solid one-two combo as people have pointed out all tour. You Are My Face Reservations Impossible Germany was a tryptich of awesomeness too. John's vocals were so great on any songs he did backup on and of course so pure on Its Just That Simple. He is a great singer.

He is a great singer. Not too mention an incredible bass player. SO glad i saw the Seattle shows and consequently the new album is really getting under my skin... having heard much of it live i appreciate the songs much more. Especially sweet live were the little harmonies with Jeff and John on If I ever was a child, the more quiet stripped down set up was great to be able hear that live. Any show with You are my face is awesome... Also cool to see the Star Wars tunes among others... Btw... I have given up trying to turn people on to Wilco. Its an acquired taste, but once you get a taste for it, it all tastes good to me. I have played in bands and been heavy into music my whole life and i think thats why i really appreciate the musical twists and turns and variety Wilco provide while still being definitively Wilco. I wouldnt rank their records cus they all have something artistically valuable & musically interesting to offer. It's ART yo!!! Also Paul/bbop/Mrcheeztastic, I may have stood next to you at a show. thank you for your recaps. really great and appreciated!! Enjoy night 3 in LA... I wish you were here, better yet, I wish i was there with you...
Shug
Agree about John's bass playing too, of course. I love when they become the Stones circa '72 on stuff like I Got You and Outtasite, no one does that better than Wilco!
